We had the good fortune of connecting with Pete Jokisch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pete, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We are committed to “Approachable Premium”. Every element of our brand down to the product itself gets filtered through this lens. We add a sparkling twist to a traditionally brewed tea, coupled with organic, clean ingredients producing classic flavors that evoke a bit of curiosity. We drive it home by blending nostalgia with modern pop to make it an all-around fun and flavorful experience for our consumers!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Teakoe is truly founder-made. We take immense pride in creating our product line from scratch in our very own tea brewery, based right here in Colorado. The attention to detail and intention with which we approach everyday, hopefully instills confidence in our customers and partners that they’re supporting a company that operates with a sense of purpose. There are so many options when it comes to beverages and we hope our authenticity resonates with consumers.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado provides such a unique opportunity to experience everything life has to offer. No matter the season, there is always something to explore. For me, I would suggest to my friends to come in September, as that’s probably my favorite month of the year here in Colorado. I’m probably not recommending anything earth-shattering or unheard of, but these are the places I would go.
Starting with lodging, I’d tell them to stay at the Four Seasons (if budget allows), or any of the local Sage Hospitality properties. The Four Seasons has an amazing pool, which can be great for those unusually warm days in September. Catbird, Maven, Crawford, and Rally are also great spots that really embody the local scene. You can’t go wrong with any of those locations!
Make sure to eat at owned restaurants! Guard & Grace is a personal favorite. It’s a great steakhouse, which is no surprise considering Troy Guard is one of the best chefs in America. I also love Bar Dough and Cherry Cricket. I personally live in Aurora which has such a vast foodie scene, and each spot is better than the next.
I suggest planning a recovery day at Nurture during your trip. From every wellness practice you could imagine to an amazing cafe with all the healthiest (and tasty) food items, Nurture is a perfect spot to recharge your battery- which is so needed!
I definitely recommend experiencing the music scene! Enjoy a concert at Red Rocks or a show at Number 38.
A cold plunge in a mountain river is a must. Golden provides easy access to some frigid water- and its not far from Denver. I have been cold plunging for over 15 years and really enjoy the physical and mental benefits it provides. I recommend going for a trail run in Golden before dipping your toes in. Golden has such a great terrain with beautiful scenery.
Be sure to check out the RiNo graffiti art. There are really some incredible pieces! Thomas Evans (Detour) and Pat Milberry are my favorites.
I would definitely schedule a distillery tasting and tour. Rob Masters from The Family Jones Distillery is an industry legend!
I’n also bringing friends visiting to a baseball game at Coors Field. Hopefully my friend’s home team is in town because the local product has seen better days. But, the stadium is a really fun experience, especially when you’re able to catch a magical Colorado sunset.
Spend a day in Fort Collins. I attended CSU, so I’m a little biased, but that town really is amazing. I also recommend spending a day in Frisco. It’s not the first place locals think of when they hear “Mountain Town” but in September you can get a boat or paddle board on Lake Dillon. It’s a great way to enjoy everything the mountains have to offer (plus it’s only an hour away from Denver off of I-70.)
I’ve left off so many other great establishments and experiences, especially ones that support us by carrying our products, but most people that visit seem to move here right after, so there will be plenty of time for my friend to take it all in!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are so grateful for our entire Teakoe family- from our current and past teammates who have helped shape the business to where it is today- to our investors and partners who continually believe in what we’re building and afford us the opportunity to pursue our dream. It takes a village… a patient and supportive village at that!
