We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Donello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Peter, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been a performer since high school when I was in touring choir and gymnastics team. That was also when my interest in magic began. I actually worked my way through College as a restaurant magician and a Disco DJ. I have been doing one or the other (or both) ever since. there have been day jobs occasionally over the years. and I got fairly good at some of them. But on at least 4 different occasions, the company I was working for closed down or was bought out. So I finally decided that the only person I could count on was myself. it required a lot of hustle and work, but I never had to worry about getting fired or laid off.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As I mentioned before, my life performing began in High school. In College, I was a music (vocal performance) and theatre major so it seemed only natural that I work my way through school as a Magician an DJ. That was a stroke of luck for me since it is normally difficult for fine arts majors to actually find work in their field (other than teaching). I’m still not sure if it was a drawback or an advantage, but one of the realities of performing in the restaurant and nite club industry is that you change venues more often than say an office job or construction. On one hand, you were never sure how long your gig would last. On the other hand, you learned quickly what skills you had that were marketable. And you also met lots of people. Learning to work with so many different people helped me to gain an understanding about humanity that definitely helps me in connecting and communicating with others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely go to see a Rockies or Broncos game (I’m not big into basketball but could be persuaded). A day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. Dancing at the Church or club Vinyl. Hangout at the Viewhouse downtown. A visit to Meow wolfe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom. A woman who lost her family at 17 and had to learn the lessons of life on her own. A woman who raised 7 children by herself. And even to this day, at 89 years old, still loves to be involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
