We had the good fortune of connecting with Phillip Burchim and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Phillip, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be that I have overcome the hardest obstacles and challenges in my life I’ve failed a million times but I never gave up even when everyone said someone like me would never make it. I want my kids to know that no matter what you go through or what you have done you can be great. Greater than me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I came from absolutely nothing. I was taught that it was cool to go to jail and get high. I have been to prison 4 times and almost didn’t even become very successful at all. Until one day I was waiting for a ride in front of some apartments and someone shot me in the back. It went right through my right lung and caused internal bleeding and I needed a chest tube and everything. The Dr said I was very lucky because those types of injuries are typically fatal. So instead of good to prison again and being a better criminal, I decided to do the opposite. I started a Facebook group and a clothing brand and now it’s an actual business. So what sets me apart from others is I chose to be a better person, so that I could be in a position one day to give people the opportunity to have an actual career and maybe start a business like I did.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the the National Monument because everyone has to see it at least once, the hot springs is great. The best time is in the Razr on the trails.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Everyone around me has contributed to my success. My mom passed but she was my main motivation for starting my own brand and business.
