We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Kistner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I am a creator at heart. I studied Art and Design in College, with a focus in oil painting, but also have always loved working with textiles and product design. I would say my entrepreneurship is driven from a desire to create something new.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With the creative process, I feel like most of the time people from the outside do not fully understand your vision at the early stages. And I definitely felt that with Logan + Lenora. It took quite a bit of refining our bag designs and materials, as well as the branding behind our waterproof + washable designs before they caught on. We often say, its not a thing until you make it a thing:). And early on it was easy to second guess myself. But I truly believed in the idea of performance bags using waterproof and machine washable materials, styled in classic fashion forward designs. So we stuck with it, and are so thankful now for the company that grew out of that hard work early on.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh this is a tough one. There are so many good things to do. Some of our favorite restaurants are Perdida, Hop Alley, Stoic & Genuine, and drinks at The Cooper Lounge. We also love staying at Devils Thumb Ranch in Granby, for a few days of hiking and horse back riding.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Ben who is now CEO of Logan + Lenora. Our brand would not be where it is today if he had not believed in it and me, and taken the risk to jump on board.
