We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Ortiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raquel, how do you think about risk?
I think that without risk you go nowhere. Risk helps people get out of their comfort zone to better opportunities. It helped me be where I am at right now. I left many “good jobs” for something better and here I am now working a career I never thought I would and only dreamed of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Never settle. I left many jobs trust me more than a normal humans goes through in a lifetime maybe. I knew my hard work / worth and when I felt I wasn’t feeling appreciate, respected or valued I moved on to find where they would. I even left jobs where I had a decent pay for the area, benefits and all. I wasn’t happy so the money never replaced what I was truly looking for in life, MORE. I am not money hungry but passion hungry yes. After many jobs now I am a CDL truck driver one of the careers choices I had in mind since I was in high school. I’m a artist by heart but like we all know the “starving artist” phrase, I need to support my dream with a job that I still love to do. Driving a big truck, traveling has always been in my bucket list. I love it it’s tough and challenging but at the same time it’s chill. I couldn’t ask for more of a perfect job for me. I’m very hands on and handyman in a way. I’m very excited for the doors that open up for me with this career.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely out to karaoke! To some of my favorite spots. Also for hikes, nature walks. To All the skating rinks. The zoo, Denver museum of nature and science, the wild animal sanctuary. I mean I can keep going there’s plenty to do and I haven’t tried my self yet.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents, always willing to support my crazy ideas. Without them I would have had a harder time trying to get to where I am at now.
