We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebeca Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebeca, what do you attribute your success to?
To me the most important factor behind my success is having patience. Creating a social media platform won’t be easy to grow within couple of days. Not everyone will grow their platforms at the same phase. Back in June I marked a year that I created a platform and started to grow it. Now I’m at 110k likes on my Facebook page and 10.6k on my Instagram. It’s all about your personality as well, we each attract different viewers just by our personality.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First and foremost, I am a beauty influencer with a disability called Cerebral Palsy. I mainly force my work on my Facebook page, Instagram as well as now TikTok. Starting my social media platforms I didn’t expect to grow as much as I am today nor get contacted by makeup brands. It wasn’t easy to find brands to work with because of my condition. I knew there were going to be brands who would use me for “views” and/or “sells”. I wasn’t one to care about how many viewers I got or if I made sells off of my promotions. Thanks to that experience I am now working with 4 brands with paid commission. In fact, I have a small collection with one of them and that maybe one day will grow. I had to learn you have to work with what’s offered to you at the moment so you can get the practice and experience for what’s made for you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have friends that live in Laredo, Taxes and if they one day come visit Colorado I would first take them to a original Colorado Mexican restaurant called “Chubby’s” in downtown. Look Out Mountain is a very popular place to visit, especially at night. The Red Rocks is a great place to hike with an amazing view at the top. My all time favorite place to go is Clear Creek White Water Park, you can have a family cookout. Great place to hike, bike ride, run, kayak, and eat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s a lot of people who I would like to say thanks to for all their support during my journey. One of them is and will always be my mother, Rosa. Having and raising a child with special needs isn’t for everyone. I have a disability called Cerebral Palsy, but she has shown me and continues to show me that my disability doesn’t define the person I am. She raised me as a happy, independent and smart person that I am today at age 25. She taught me I could do anything that I set my mind to. Along with her my #1 supporter was my dear aunt Alejandra. When I first started my beauty influencer journey she was the first to believe in me, to call out that I would get to places and even to have makeup brands reach out to me. She was behind me 100% all the way, until she passed away in May 2020. Because of her I continue to keep pushing forward and I know along with her, my mom, and all my 100+ supporters, they keep opening doors for me.
