We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Light and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My name is Rebecca, and I love hot sauce. I mean like I really really love it. It’s my favorite food group. When my friends and family started giving me bottles of hot sauce every occasion, I started to realize the problem with most hot sauces is that they are too spicy to taste anything but heat. And I am a foodie, I love flavors and my food. So one day when I was at a hot sauce convention with all of these other people who loved hot sauces as much as me, I was inspired to figure out my favorite peppers and flavors! When the pandemic gave me new opportunities, I decided to start my hot sauce business, Revved Up, focusing on flavor before heat sauces, and I’ve been living my dream ever since!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I became an accidental hot sauce connoisseur when I started using hot sauce on everything and wanted to share my passion. My goal is to make food taste better, so I curated a line of hot sauces that will bring out the flavor in your food while still giving it some heat. It’s not just an amazing product but also an incredible experience you can have every day of your life.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so grateful to my family, friends and the people I’ve met through Revved Up hot sauce. But it’s thanks a good friend that has helped me most in starting this business: Neil Kittleson from Salty Sailor Coffee Company, -he gave support and encouragement as we pursued our entrepreneurial spirits together–it is an honor working side by side and now we are business partners pursuing new ventures together on the side.
