We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, why did you pursue a creative career?
I get to create art daily, teach people it’s not that hard to start a business and it provides a good living for my family.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me a part from everyone else is that I truly care that the logo comes out exceeding my client’s expectations. It’s a thrill every time. It wasn’t always this way though. It was hard in the beginning to figure out what the client wanted at all. I slowly worked on my process though and now I nail it every time. It’s only because I kept refining the process until it was this way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Gosh I really do not know what to say besides Red Rocks. Seeing a show there will always be #1. I won’t ever forget the first time. When I first moved to Colorado I worked as security for Red Rocks and other venues around Denver. It was my first shift and I was working the stairs helping with crowd control. When it became dark the stars really started to shine. Next thing you know a violin player gets on stage and next thing I know, I’m in tears! It was all just too much. It was so beautiful looking and the music, lyrics and evey one singing was just something else.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My fiance Dusten. I met him when I was 17 and 17 years later we’re still here supporting each other. I literally could not do what I do full time if it were not for his support throughout my life. He is such a sweetheart and we just had two kids together (1 and 3 years old) so he’s been teaching them, watching them and playing lots of music with them all day 8-10 hours a day. I love being able to stay home while he watches them in the house as where I work. He keeps them away during calls, brings me food, reminds me to go outside and is so smart I always go to him when I’m stuck and can’t figure something out!

My parents taught me to be creative since I was a toddler. I remember coloring when I was tiny with my dad. I remember singing with my mom.

I remember my art teacher Mrs. Mariano always supporting me. (decades!) I still connect with her now. She always said “A.B.C. (Always be careful) I love you dearly” She’s always been a rock star to me.
