Meet Rebekah de la Fontaine | Elopement and Small Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebekah de la Fontaine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebekah, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
This is such an important question! I think a lot more businesses should think and question how they help the community/the earth/the world. And I don’t think it has to be an all or nothing thing. I think every business can be doing something, small or large! And there are so many ways to impact the world around you. Personally, I try to create a really safe space for LGBTQ+ couples getting married. I am queer myself and I have realized how little wedding businesses try to make queer couples feel comfortable and affirmed. I make sure the language I use on my website and social media presence is inclusive. I showcase a LOT of LGBTQ+ couples! I have it all over my website that I am LGBTQ+ friendly and queer myself. And through the actual photography part of it, I make sure that my couples don’t feel like they’re being put into a box. And I try to constantly educate people who follow me on social media to make sure that they are also doing their part in making LGBTQ+ couples feel loved and affirmed. In a world that is still very heteronormative and homophobic, I think it’s super important to be considering couples who may not always feel very welcomed by the wedding industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think what separates me from a lot of other wedding photographers is I am super hands on with the planning process! I love being there for my clients as kind of a “wedding expert”. I know all the amazing, off the beaten path locations to elope! I love helping connect my clients with other vendors like hair and makeup, florists, etc, that are amazing! I also create timelines for my couples. And just all in all, there for them every step of the way to make the planning process easier! I have so much knowledge of planning an elopement that I feel the need to help my clients since for most couples it’s their first time getting married! And I think that’s so important and so helpful! And I think that’s honestly what I want my brand to be about–helping people!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I recently discovered a place called Garage Sale Vintage in Denver! It’s a vintage shop AND a bar! I don’t know about you, but that is my kind of place. I would definitely take anyone who came to town there to do some local shopping (and drinking!) I am also a big fan of the Denver Art Museum and the Botanical Gardens! And Sweet Cow (AKA the best ice cream ever) is a must!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been given so much support throughout my life with my business! I think my biggest encouragement has always been my mom and my partner. My mom, who gifted me a camera when I was young and encouraged my dreams and passions. And my partner who also always encouraged my dreams and helped make my business a reality!
