We had the good fortune of connecting with Rick Harrigan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rick, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Let me paint a picture for you: 6 years ago I was immersed in a fast-paced, high-paying career doing advertising sales and business development in the Los Angeles corporate entertainment world. On the surface, I was living the American Dream – big salary, big house, nice car, fancy dinners and movie premieres. Beneath the façade of success, however, I felt overwhelmed, stuck, and completely disconnected from myself. My “success” sure didn’t feel like it. I. Was. Utterly. Burnt. Out. At the end of my rope, I underwent what I like to call a “mid-life awakening”. I re-invested in my self, my spirituality, and, most importantly, I got some outside guidance from a coach. I started making changes. Big changes. I started asking – and answering! – the “really big” questions about my life. I clarified my beliefs and values. I started making my own rules. I created my own, unique definition of success. I got over my myriad fears and, for perhaps the first time in my life, I believed wholeheartedly in myself. I stopped playing small and started playing big. In short, I found my purpose. I realized my calling was to be of service to others in their own journey to purpose and success. I walked away from it all and moved to Colorado in order become a career and life-purpose coach and start my business, Rick Harrigan Coaching. Now I pay forward my knowledge, coaching skills, and hard-won experience to help people find their purpose and do meaningful, lucrative work they truly love!

What should our readers know about your business?
From my own experience, and my experience coaching 100’s of clients, I have come to understand that true success in life boils down to one thing: purpose. I understand that everyone wants to achieve their fullest potential in life and work. To do that, you need guidance that helps you to find your purpose and channel it into a fulfilling, lucrative career doing work you love. It’s so easy for people to lose sight of their dreams amid our super-busy, day-to-day hustle. It’s understandable to feel stuck and indecisive. Paralyzing doubts creep in, and you begin wondering: Aren’t I too young (or too old) to find my purpose in life? What if I’m not good enough to pull it off? Will my purpose pay the bills?! It’s overwhelming! Too many people let fear get in the way of owning their purpose and making great money doing what they love. I believe everyone has a powerful purpose inside of them. Furthermore, I believe if you follow where it leads, you will enjoy massive success, make more money, and live a deeper, more fulfilling life. I believe this because I’ve gone through it myself, and as a Certified Professional Coach (CPC, ACC, ELI-MP), I’m uniquely equipped to guide you to connect with your purpose and make it pay off. This is exactly why I developed a program called Purpose Pays Off™. Here’s how my Purpose Pays Off™ program works: (1) Find your purpose (hint: it’s already within you!) (2) Identify the career that expresses your purpose (3) Create a plan of attack to land that perfect job, or start the perfect business (4) Unleash and perpetuate your purpose to live a better, more fulfilling life doing what you love. I believe everyone deserves to do lucrative meaningful work they truly love. I designed my program to not only help people find their purpose, but make it pay off!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A concert at Red Rocks is certainly at the top of the list! This is Denver, so nature has to be a part of the itinerary. A day trip down to Garden of The Gods is a must… did I mention I’m also a Certified Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) Guide??? LOL!) Union Station is definitely on the list…An overnight stay at The Crawford, a drink at The Cooper Lounge, and a bite at any of the restaurants… We love Escape Rooms, so we’d take them to the Mystic Escape Room in Littleton. It’s awesome! I’m also a big baseball fan, so catching a game the Rooftop at Coors Field is definitely on the docket. I’m a child of the 80’s so for some nightlife, I’d take them to Milk Bar on Saturday night. Their 80’s room is the real-deal, and everyone actually dances!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to Eckhart Tolle and his book, “A New Earth”, which was the impetus for my “mid-life awakening”! I’d also like to give a shoutout to my coach, guide, and mentor, Gaetano. He’s so humble, he won’t even let me share his full name! A shoutout goes to IPEC, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, which equipped me with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to be of service to others…and change the world one person at a time! Finally, my biggest shoutout goes to my wife, Kim, and my daughter, Gailyn. They have loved and supported me every step of the way on my journey to purpose. Love is the key, and without theirs, I might never have opened this door!
