We had the good fortune of connecting with Roni Ayers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a Nurse, I knew I didn’t want to practice hospital bedside nursing. I knew I wanted to dedicate my time being able to talk to my patients and get to know them and their families. This led me to working as an Ambulatory Nurse with a Physician. This is when I fell in love with patients coming in with skin conditions. Most of these patients are self conscious, depressed or have anxiety related to how they look. I wanted to be the one to treat their skin concern and see the results, not only physically but emotionally as well.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I book my appointments, I always extend the appointment by 15 to 30 minutes. I give extra time for getting to know who I’m treating. The more I’m able to know and understand, the better the outcomes. This business is continuously evolving, I attend ongoing events and trainings with our suppliers to be able to provide my customers with the best products and services. Getting started with my business was another new challenge. I didn’t know anything of where or how to start: I researched and leaned a lot on my business partner to help navigate the process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to as many local breweries we could fit in to sample their menu, Horsetooth Reservoir for the beautiful scenery, Betta Gumbo Restaurant in downtown Loveland for their delicious food, Downtown Fort Collins to do some shopping, eating, and entertaining.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Stacie Kenny is a wonderful friend and fellow Nurse. She has given me the opportunity to fulfill my love for everything Skin at her Medspa FĀSE Skin and Laser Studio in Fort Collins, Colorado. Without her I wouldn’t be where I am. This industry is difficult to get a start in. Local Medspa’s will not bat an eye for a newbie in the field. Stacie also has a love for esthetics and the industry, so she took a leap of faith and started FĀSE Skin and Laser Studio. This opportunity has given us the ability to learn and grow in the industry. We don’t want to be your typical Medspa, we want our patients to feel at home and get to know them.
