We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosa Arreola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was a decision deeply rooted in my lifelong passion for working with children. As the oldest sister of three, with a 20-year age gap between my youngest sister and me, I had the privilege of witnessing her early years of growth, which reinforced my love for childcare. This, combined with my experience caring for my cousins, naturally led me to pursue a career dedicated to nurturing young minds.

With over a decade of experience focused on infants and toddlers, I have continuously expanded my knowledge through multiple childhood development classes and training programs accredited by the Colorado Office of Early Childhood. These experiences not only enhanced my skills but also deepened my understanding of how to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive.

My role as a Center Director for the past five years was a turning point in my career. It was during this time that I truly recognized my dream—to build a community rooted in love, compassion, and kindness. I wanted to create a space where families feel completely at ease, knowing their little ones are in the hands of someone who genuinely cares for them as if they were their own.

This passion and commitment ultimately led me to establish Little Journeys Childcare, a place where children are nurtured, families are supported, and a foundation for a bright future is laid with love and dedication.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart from other in-home daycares is that, while we are located in a home setting, we offer everything a childcare center provides—plus so much more. With a strong focus on quality, we ensure individualized attention, fostering deeper connections with each child. Our smaller group sizes allow us to personalize learning experiences and provide the kind of one-on-one engagement that is often hard to achieve in larger centers.

Getting to where we are today business-wise was not an easy journey. Taking the leap from being an employee to owning my own childcare business was both exciting and challenging. There were moments of self-doubt, financial hurdles, and the overwhelming task of navigating the logistics of opening a business. However, with the support of my fiancé, family, and past mentors, I was able to push through and turn my vision into reality. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is to trust the process and never be afraid to step outside of my comfort zone.

What I want the world to know about Little Journeys Childcare is that we are more than just a daycare—we are a family. We are a place where children are truly cared for, nurtured, and given the love and attention they deserve. Our goal is to create an environment where parents feel confident and at ease, knowing their little ones are in the hands of someone who treats them as their own. This is not just a business for me; it’s my passion, my purpose, and my way of making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, we’d definitely have a fun-filled itinerary packed with family-friendly activities since my two beautiful boys are always with me!

Day 1: Exploring & Playtime
We’d kick off the trip at Kids Wonder, an amazing indoor play center where the kids can run, climb, and explore. After working up an appetite, we’d head to Cinzettis, a delicious Italian buffet with so many options for both kids and adults to enjoy.

Day 2: Outdoor Fun & Splash Pad
We’d spend the day at Carpenter Recreation Center, where the kids could enjoy the splash pad and park while we soak up the sun. Later, we’d grab dinner at El Paraíso, one of my favorite spots for delicious Mexican food.

Day 3: Interactive Fun & Creativity
A visit to Spark the Scenes would be a must—it’s such a cool place for kids to engage in interactive play and explore their creativity. After that, we’d have a relaxing evening at home with a movie night and homemade snacks.

Day 4: Relaxing & Casual Hangout
For a more laid-back day, we’d go for a scenic walk at a local park or nature trail, then stop by a fun café or ice cream shop to treat the kids. Later in the evening, we’d enjoy a cozy dinner together.

Day 5: Fun Night Out!
For a little adult time, we’d plan a fun night out at Happy Camper—the atmosphere is great, and the food is so good! After dinner, we’d go bowling for some friendly competition and laughs.

Day 6: Adventure & Exploration
We’d plan a little day trip to explore a nearby attraction—whether it’s the zoo, an aquarium, or a kid-friendly museum. This would be a great way to wrap up the trip with something memorable for both the kids and adults.

Day 7: Brunch & Goodbyes
To end the trip on a sweet note, we’d have a delicious brunch, let the kids play at a nearby park one last time, and just enjoy some quality time together before saying our goodbyes.

Overall, the trip would be filled with fun, family-friendly adventures, great food, and plenty of special memories!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I truly believe that success is never achieved alone, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people who have supported and encouraged me throughout my journey.

First and foremost, my fiancé has been my biggest supporter since day one. He has always believed in my vision of opening my own daycare and has continuously motivated and encouraged me to take that leap of faith. His unwavering support has been a driving force in making this dream a reality.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to my previous employer, Klare Looney. Working under her guidance for eight years provided me with invaluable knowledge and experience. She allowed me to grow, take on new challenges, and truly develop the skills that have shaped me into the childcare provider I am today. Her support and encouragement, even when I decided to venture out on my own, meant the world to me.

Lastly, my family has been my greatest source of motivation and strength. Their love, support, and belief in me have given me the confidence to push forward and pursue my dreams. I couldn’t have asked for a better support system, and I am forever grateful for each and every one of them.
