Meet Eva Leon | Co-Founder Viva Resource non-profit

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eva Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eva, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
During my life I’ve found people that have helped me, and for me it’s important to help others find resources in the community because together we are more.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What makes me different is that I like to advocate for the community. I am most proud of being able to advocate for my community for more than six years. I am here today because I studied community leadership in the Colorado State University Extension (FLTI). I would say it was not easy, my biggest barrier the language, I overcame this challenge by finding a way to communicate, along the way I have learned that there are many barriers but with dedicated and work I can overcome them. I what the world to know that with dedication your dreams can come true.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting the area I’d like to take them to the Manitou Springs incline so that they could see the sun rise. To eat I would take them out to eat some good Mexican food and to drink id take them out to drink Colorado artesanal beer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes out to the Colorado Department of Education. The department of education has helped me find confidence in using my voice to make a change.
