We had the good fortune of connecting with Sahara Moon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sahara, how does your business help the community?
I believe that my business, as an artist and singer-songwriter, has a positive impact on many. Not only does the craft of music bring joy to those who listen, but it also has the potential to stir a lot of emotion. I feel the amount of vulnerability entwined throughout my lyrics and musical compositions provides the community with a sense of healing. The songs may hold a different meaning for each listener. I enjoy being a voice that can speak the unspoken when times may be difficult. Music heals and there is so much benefit for a community that chooses to listen.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began performing live in 2016 to the passerby on the street and have continued to grow into the artist that I am today throughout the years. My style of music is Uptown Americana; a cross between Norah Jones and Brandi Carlile. I am very grateful for the time I have been able to invest into my craft, and I am excited to get into the studio to record a new batch of songs.
Being an independent artist is not always easy and definitely has its challenges, but I have always been a firm believer in pursing what you are most passionate about. Giving myself the space to process, adjust, and re-focus my intentions allows me to overcome any challenges I may face.
There are many lessons I have learned along the way, although there is always something new to learn! On a daily basis I am learning new ways to feel some form of inner calmness and peace in order to help my creative process flow.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have yet to visit Colorado, but I plan on doing so in the near future! With that being said, I would take advantage of the hiking opportunities and explore the different areas throughout the city that make it so unique.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that have inspired my journey. I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Ray Bohn for his constant hard work and dedication to my music as well as Jim Steen for his mentorship, efforts, and support. Of course, I would not be where I am today without the love and support from my parents, Denise and Steve, Zinnia Moon, Austin Bowers, and my entire family and friends.
