We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Prior to starting my own business, I had always been in a support role. I excelled in that role. I drove the businesses that I worked for forward. I always made things better than when I found them and ended up making those owners a profit due to life circumstances, I had to leave those administrative management roles, and that drove me to start my own business to make more money to support myself and my kids. I knew that whatever I did, it had to come from my heart I had to be passionate about it or I would not be successful. I knew I had the ability to run a business because I’d run several over the last decade , I just needed to have the vision
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I tell everyone “you come for our workouts you stay for our community.” Have you ever gone to a gym and not spoken to a single soul how about a smaller group fitness studio? These are places where accountability is necessary and sometimes people have that within themselves, but often times you’re drawn to group fitness because it’s a way to get, the kind of training that you need an accountability that’s necessary to reach your next goal. at our studio We pride ourselves on the friendships and community that we make holding each other accountable walking through life with one another giving back to our community. It’s a special place where everybody knows your name , lol just like cheers. We give back to the community with our time and energy teaching special-needs classes. We give back to the community offering free classes for those that perhaps can’t afford a regular membership. We offer discounts for different tiers of people in different stages of life we just wanna see people be their best happiest and most whole, I got into this business because I workedout here. I found health and healing through the work and through the community I became certified as an instructor and the opportunity to purchase the space from the previous owner. It has been something that I had hoped and written down and wished for and worked towards. Life brought to fruition at just the right time, I’ve been able to take all my previous small business management skills and what drives me as a person which is connectivity to create this space for all to be in and get stronger
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are going to hit an Barre class at One Body Fitness Studio at 9am then stroll over the grab a coffee and the Rick and Morty sandwich at Bird Tree Cafe, sitting on their patio people watching. After that we walk down to Eclectic Co and pick up some sweet vintage goods and locally made soaps and perfume, then over to The Good Eye for the best Jewelry collection in town. Grab a Pike Ride and cycle down to the end of Tejon for some Spicy Margs and Tacos at Dos Santos before we take on a little hike in Bear Creek Park. Soak our tired bones in the hot spring tubs at Sun Water Spa, stroll through downtown Manitou to the Penny Arcades and end in OCC at 503W for some fusion food and cocktails
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give all the shout outs and praise to my family, the ultimate cheerleaders in my life. My mom who raised me to believe in myself, my kids who drive me to be better every day and my partner who I could not do any of this without.
