Meet Samuel Czvitkovits | Managing Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuel Czvitkovits and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samuel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
At first, I wanted it to be the vessel that allowed me to move back to the US after I graduated from school. I had a strong connection here and it felt like I was in the right place but I knew to come back that I would either have to work at another firm, or figure out how to get back here through my own business and that’s ultimately the way I went.

After that was all said and done, I realize now that I got into business because I wanted to bring people together who inspire each other on a day to day basis. There’s nothing more special than having a workplace culture where people love to come to and I hope to continue this trend and get to know many more incredible people over the many years that are yet to come.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fortem Media is a Creative Agency that specializes in Video Production and Social Media. What I believe sets us apart is the people, and I know that sounds cliche – but our culture is based around not only the impact we create for our clients, but the impact we have on each other.

12 months ago, I felt like this was it, I had a team that was disconnected and I was stuck on the other-side of the globe waiting for my visa to be renewed. When I finally made it back, it was down to just me and I knew I had to dig deep to get back on track. I could go on for hours, but to cut it short – it was at this point where I truly realized the value in having quality people around in my life. People who inspire me and push me. When you find them, hold onto them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Growing up in a small town, I was very much accustomed to the ‘Small town mindset’ which isn’t bad, but it wasn’t for me. I was fortunate enough to be raised in a family with parents from opposite ends of the globe and I believe that really created my desire to always want to know more about the world and what we can achieve if we put our mind to it.

As time went by, I have been fortunate enough to have a number of great people around me, one in particular – Clint Goodchild. He never told me what I wanted to here but was my biggest fan, and did whatever he could to support me. Truth is, what I didn’t want to hear was exactly what I needed to hear. He shifted my thinking and opened me up to finding my ‘why’.

While I still have a lot to figure out and learn as a person, I want to give one more mention to the people who I work with. First of all, Leif – he came onboard with a tonne of experience and the ‘get it done’ mentality that helped boost us to the next level. Secondly, Alyssa – her intuition and uncanny ability to light up the room brings so much energy to the team and she pushes me to be the best me. Lastly, our newest team member, Kolton – his desire to learn is something that I truly admire and I am extremely excited to see him grow and flourish in his role as time goes by.
