We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara J Arms and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara J, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Guided by Gaia Creations helps the community by motivating our customers to shop other local small businesses and farmer markets, promoting local commerce. One of our favorite ways to give back is offering raffles that support local and world charities. The raffles bring awareness to the charity as well as educates our customers on the difference they can make! I have also offered support to local schools by speaking to classes about the importance of mental health and taking time to decompress. As a woman-owned small business, I encourage entrepreneurship in my community and make myself available as a hub of information to other aspiring small businesses. Offering information such as best business practices for their category, tax prep/help, ways to reinvest back into their own companies and what local mercantile shops that would be a good fit for them.
When our customers shop with us, we encourage them to normalize their healing process by opening their mind through the use of intention, manifestation and metaphysical properties of crystals. This usually ignites the playfulness of their inner child but it also nudges them to begin opening up about the obstacles they might be facing at that moment. I feel privileged to offer little bits of magic in my communities lives. My true goal is to unite us all in the beauty of emotional and physical healing through energy and self discovery.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create compassionately and intuitively handmade wire-wrapped crystal jewelry filled with intentions of healing mind, body and spirit. It’s important that my customers know what the piece of jewelry can do for them if they are open to receiving its energy. Ideally, I’d love to transform the idea of jewelry into useful tools in your own personal journey, not just an accessory. When creating a custom piece that someone has ordered, I invite in their guides to infuse the metal and stone with any activations, downloads, information or vibrations that my customer may need in their life right now. This makes the piece much more beneficial for the wearer and really focuses in on the intention they ordered it for. I’m most proud of how my creations are intended to assist people through different times in their life. Bringing in more awareness and helping them remember how powerful they are!
I got to where I am today by being unfulfilled in my career as a paralegal in 2018. Longing for happiness in my job, I began saying this affirmation, “Thank you so much universe for the beautifully abundant life I am providing for my family simply by doing what I love.” After using this affirmation daily, life began presenting me with opportunities. From store owners asking if I’d display my jewelry in their stores to being invited to set up at farmers markets. Five years later I still say the same affirmation every day. The top three things I’ve learned along my business journey are:
•Every person or business you meet can be a new and exciting journey so put yourself out there and treat everyone with respect and kindness.
•Always be ready to help out, you never know when you might need some help too.
•Be open to new ideas and others voices, you never know what the next year has in store for you!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start the visit with a trip to the Southlands or Parker Farmers Market to visit some of Denver’s best small businesses from fresh produce, pastries and amazing art. From there we would pack a late lunch made from local family farm Miller Farm and head to Colorado Springs to eat while overlooking Garden of the Gods. Taking time to connect with the beautiful landscape and nature of our beautiful state. After working off our lunch on a hike and making it back to Denver we are on our way downtown to locate Sauvage food truck and enjoy the best beignets in town. Early in the week we would stop by The Bronze Petal to pick up some beautiful rare plants and take a fun meditation/sound bowl healing class. Then it’s off the ride scooters around downtown to capture so much of what denver has to offer in such a short time from local art to the amazing craft breweries. Mid week we would sign up a sunset yoga class and silent disco at the Denver Botanical Gardens followed by shopping for souvenirs at The Local or Ruby’s Market which are filled with handmade gifts from local artists.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Jack Cole Beckham I wouldn’t be where I am without the constant encouragement, inspiration and insight from this amazing person. He has been my biggest cheerleader and my toughest critic. He always pushes me to be better and I could never thank him enough. He teaches me to love harder, to take risks and how to truly enjoy life. My love for this person grows every day. Thank you Jack.
