Meet Scott Miller Vargas | Crime Scene Investigator & Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Miller Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scott, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a real life Crime Scene Investigator, finding clothing and merchandise for individuals in our field can sometimes be tough and take a lot of time and research. I have always been very crafty with pretty much anything that I do, so I decided to take the knowledge that I possessed from my career as well as my crafting ability and create something unique and amazing. That is when The Curious CSI Trading Co. was born.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been in the Crime Scene Investigation field for 10 years now. I have worked for places like Atlanta, Georgia, Denver, Colorado, and now the small town of Parker, Colorado. I hold a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Sociology from Auburn University. I hold a couple of certifications within the field, and I also have been teaching my niche (CSI) for Metropolitan State University Denver for five years now. I have done a lot to further my career, and honestly, that has been done anyway that I could.
I am the type of individual that always takes an opportunity and runs with it. I seize every opportunity that I am blessed with to continue to move toward achieving my goals. I love the field of Forensics. We are fact finders. We always seek the truth, even if its not the truth you want to hear.
The Curious CSI Trading Co. was born in January, 2024. We cater to those individuals in Forensics, Law Enforcement, Dispatch, Death Investigations, and also True Crime Lovers! The Curious CSI is my passion and love for the Forensic field, but in physical form, to share with others.
While The Curious CSI Trading Co. has only been open since the beginning of 2024, I have come a very long way and overcame so many challenges that I am sure any new business owner can and probably will face. I am no where near done with The Curious CSI story, but as long as I am able to, I will continue to make our story a good one.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
While you would usually find me exploring outside the city (mountains, etc.), some of my favorite parts of the city are just as amazing. A week long trip would have to include a few of my favorite restaurants: Pho on 6th, The Corner Office, and Brother’s. The better things to do within those city limits would be enjoying a good show at Buell Theater, catch a concert at The Bluebird, or take a stroll through Washington Park. Denver is a beautiful city and when I have friends or family visit, I always try to take them into the city for something. But honestly, the real fun will always be in the mountains.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would thank my friends and family for supporting my decision in creating my own business, and not judging me or looking at me as if I had three heads when I would explain my goals. Their support, thoughts, and encouragement definitely helped keep pushing me when things with the business were not always good.
