Meet Seth Spears | Entrepreneur & business owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Seth Spears and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Seth, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the oldest of six children, in a lower, middle class family. I was homeschooled from kindergarten all the way through high school. I was taught to have a strong work ethic from a very young age. I’ve always been intrinsically curious and a voracious reader. I loved to learn but never enjoyed school. If I wanted something, I work for it in order to make the money to purchase it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Wellnesse, a B Corp certified brand of all natural oral care products that work better than conventional, and toxic alternatives.
I started the company out of a desire to create the highest quality products that were free of harmful ingredients, yet still worked very well, because what you put on your body, you’re putting into your body.
I don’t think I ever met an entrepreneur who said that success was easy. The secret to success is to do the right things, long enough, consistently over time. We’ve had to overcome a lot of challenges, including almost going under in our first year due to poor hiring and mismanagement.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to trust myself and my intuition, because when I don’t listen to that, things tend to turn out poorly.
At Wellnesse, we’re on a mission to change the oral care industry, by educating about the dangers of conventional ingredients such as fluoride, and by creating products that user safer ingredients, that actually whiten and remineralize teeth naturally, without any harmful side effects.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I spend most of my time in Boulder, so we’d definitely hit up some of the many hiking trails there.
Going to The Portal to sauna and cold plunge is an absolute must.
There are so many amazing coffee shops, so we’d probably just pick a different one each day to grab a latte from.
For cocktails in Boulder, it would be either the Bitter Bar or License #1.
I’d definitely take a trip to the Boulder Sports Recycler to find some great deals on outdoor equipment.
Lucky’s Market in North Boulder would be a stop for organic groceries with a local, community vibe and flare.
In Denver, Tony Ps would be a stop for drinks and authentic Italian Pizza.
Depending on the time of year, we’d either head to the mountains to ski, or go camping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been so many books that have had a massive impact on my life over the years. A few of them are:
-Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
-The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss
-Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi
-Mans Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
-Brewing Up a Business by Sam Calagione
