We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Snow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sierra, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
I’m in the business of helping people with the feel of their body and its optimal function. I see people in the massage industry attach to certain ideals as solutions to issues that require a different strategy for relief. I love when I see practitioners utilizing the “right tool for the right job,” and that isn’t always a common attribute within this industry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I became the entrepreneur I am today on account of experiencing a transformation with my own body’s pain journey. It is very common for someone to have “that thing” that they’ve been dealing with for a while, and for me, since I was the age of 11, it was back pain. Whether it was difficulty in bending over, sitting on the ground with the other kids, or being bedridden for a week from throwing out my back, pain had become a part of my daily life. The common solutions within the doctors office and injections held no relief. I had had enough, and threw caution to the wind by beginning my athletic journey. Pain slowly began to be a thing of the past, however after time, the same issues kept seeping back in, and I began to feel that this would be a permanent part of my life.

However after discovering some self-applied body work methods, and pairing it with this strength-building journey, I now have a pain-free life. It was impossible to not share these solutions with others.
The road alone to this place was challenging, but supplying these solutions to others is something I take great fulfillment from. This journey to becoming a manual therapist involved many iterations of self-doubt, defeat, and bewilderment on account of the complex body systems. But when working on clients I’ve found that when I keep things as simple as possible, and carry on a path of consistency, the body listens, and it can finally be willing to feel safe and move beyond its crisis of pain.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Northern Colorado, and I love exploring different areas where the true “city feel” is in full swing. Climbing up to the iconic Horsetooth rock is necessary for visitors. But taking them to local gems like the Lyric, an indie theater to watch a movie out on their lawn, or to a local music show at The Atrium would set a unique vibe of a night. I also greatly enjoy bringing friends to a local gym like Ritual Strength where the community is strong, or even to a climbing gym like Whetrock where the events are always in full swing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I shoutout to Ritual Strength Gym in Loveland, CO where my outlooks about bodywork were patiently supported as I grew my practice. They saw potential in me and backed my growth as I was able to dive into my alternative approaches when working on their members and athletes. Ritual Strength was an atmosphere different than the common gym, and I found that people were open to true progress and I was surrounded by candid communal support there.
