Meet Silvia De Leon | Cake Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Silvia De Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Silvia, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Mexico and moved to the U.S. in my teens. My upbringing in Mexico instilled in me strong family values, hard work ethic, and perseverance. The combination of my Mexican heritage and the experiences I’ve had in the U.S. have greatly influenced my outlook on life and have contributed to shaping my identity. Overall, my background and upbringing have provided me with a unique perspective and a strong foundation upon which I continue to build and grow

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in creating unique and personalized cakes as a baker and cake artist. What sets my work apart is the personal touch and love I infuse into each creation. I take great pride in crafting cakes that not only look stunning but also hold special meaning for my clients. Whether it’s a birthday, wedding, or other milestone, I strive to make each cake a memorable centerpiece of the celebration. My journey into cake artistry began unexpectedly about four years ago. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a passion as I began making cakes for friends’ birthdays. Despite the challenges and steep learning curve, I was determined to refine my skills and turn my passion into a profession. Late nights and early mornings were common as I navigated in new baking techniques. While the journey was far from easy, the joy and fulfillment I found in creating beautiful cakes kept me motivated to persevere.
Each cake I create is an opportunity to hone my craft and improve my skills. I’ve also found solace and therapy in the act of creating something with my own hands, a sentiment that I infuse into every cake I make.
At the heart of my brand is a commitment to creating cakes with love and care. I cherish the opportunity to be a part of my clients’ special occasions and milestones, from birthdays to weddings and everything in between. What started as a passion project has blossomed into a thriving business, thanks to the support of my amazing customers who have now become friends. While my story continues to unfold, I am excited about the journey ahead and the opportunities to learn and grow as a cake artist.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Absolutely! If my best friend were visiting Colorado, one of the first places I would take them is Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. It’s such an iconic and breathtaking location. Next, we would indulge in some delicious Mexican cuisine at Necio’s Mexican Restaurant. Their Mariscos, enchiladas, and drinks are always a hit, and I know my friend would love the authentic flavors and vibrant atmosphere.
To satisfy our sweet tooth, we would make a stop at Eternal Flavors Bakery for a piece of their delectable cake. Their cakes are not only delicious but also beautifully crafted, making for the perfect treat to end our day of adventures.
And at some point of course, we wouldn’t want to miss out on a visit to Chubby Cattle. It’s a fantastic place to catch up over a delicious meal while enjoying the unique experience of hot pot dining.
During one of those days, we would venture out to Estes Park, We can immerse ourselves in the mountain life, enjoy scenic views, and explore the town’s shops and attractions. It’s the ideal way to experience Colorado’s natural beauty and laid-back atmosphere.
And lastly, there’s just so much to do in Colorado that I might be forgetting, but these activities are definitely some of my favorites.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shout-out to the baking community, whose unwavering support has been invaluable to me. I am also grateful to all the business owners I’ve encountered along the way, who inspire me to keep pushing forward and have offered me a helping hand when I needed it most. Last but not least, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to my family for their endless love and support
