We had the good fortune of connecting with Sirena Dudgeon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sirena, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
During my 200hr YTT I had a massive download of how Yoga and Astrology were ultimately connected. As I started to teach classes and share the astrology of the week, such as moon phases, planetary shifts, eclipses, energy, and archetypes of the Zodiac signs, more and more students would approach me after class to share how they were deeply impacted by the it and the class structure. The students would share their life stories with me of what was happening in the moment, telling me how they received so much hope and connection, knowing that what they were going through and how they were working through it by just understanding the process and cycle of life. This touched me on a soul level; their trust to share their experience and feeling of belonging in my classes. The deeper and deeper I went into my own astrology and my yoga practice, the more I wanted to share with my students, I wanted to personalize their experience. I completed my 300hr YTT in June 2020 just as the pandemic and chaos was in full swing. I had already shifted many of my classes online and with the help of my mentors, I created Life Cycles Yoga. My business revolves around the education of students through astrology and yoga and my main goal is for them to practice Svadhyaya – Self Study to form an awareness and observation of their life cycles, learning, growing, and transforming. I create personalized horoscopes for them through each Zodiac season and practice together online Tuesday and Thursday mornings to work with the energies, elements, and archetypes of the season. We are all deeply connected, leaning into the cycles of how the Universe and Cosmos work together for harmony is an allowance of this ancient knowledge to resurface into our modern lives,
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Life Cycles Yoga is everything to me, it is my passion, my life, and my purpose. If you know a bit about astrology or maybe just trusting the Universe, you will understand when I say I am aligned in my life path as a Pisces 10th House. It took me a REALLY long time to get to this point of trusting my Self, building the confidence, and facing challenges, I grew up in a Catholic family, so talking about the stars and planets and their influence over our lives was a big no-no. I felt it in my bones since I was very small, starting up at the night sky that I wanted to study astrology and share it with the world one day. However, I held back and went to college for business like I was asked to do, I would study in secret and not share my woo-woo side. When I went to my first yoga class in college at 18 years old, I immediately felt like I touched God, like I embodied the entirety of the Cosmos in one single class of breathing and moving. Yoga was and still remains a spiritual practice for me, It has always been that stable practice for me to come back to no matter what is happening in my life; graduating, moving, marrying, pregnancy, having babies, raising kids, surgeries, health, deaths of friends and family. When I had the download of Astrology and Yoga suturing together in 2016, I knew exactly what my path would be. It felt like coming home. I finally saw the cycles of life happening before my eyes, not only in my own natal chart, but that of others. It is like a light coming on, Ever since then, I have been passionate about sharing the cycles of the moon, sun, planets, and Zodiac signs via my social media, website, in-person classes, conference, and workshops, There have been so many lessons along the way. I think the biggest one has been to ask for help, I am a busy mom of two daughters, without me letting down my guard and opening my heart to ask my husband, friends and family with little things like picking up the groceries, or putting in laundry, or taking the kids to events while I am out of town or in class, I wouldn’t be where I am today, I had to let go of wanting to do it all in order to focus on what I am doing in the moment, To share with my students their natal charts and the cycles of the Sun and Moon impacting their lives and how to work with it is my biggest passion, When we recognize the patterns happening and break generational cycles, as well as bad habits, or negative routines, we gain greater insight into ourselves and that of others. We can have a positive impact in our life by starting with a deeper understanding of why we react the way we do, why we feel the way we do, why we do that things we do, Don’t we all just want to feel like we belong and that we have a purpose in this life? I am here to help with that, to guide you and provide you the tools to do so,
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love love love living in Colorado and have so many favorite spots! A perfect week long trip would include lots of fun spots and experiences for friends or family visiting. First I would start by slowing our lives down and taking off to Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs. It is a must to go at sunset, to watch the light of the sun escape under the mountains along the river. The hike to Doc Holliday’s grave is fantastic, especially during fall. A creepy yet quaint little mountainside cemetery tucked away above Glenwood Springs always brings a little rush of excitement, especially after a rocky and strenuous short hike. Leaving the mountains, it is time to enjoy Denver. We need art and fun so we travel to Meow Wolf at Convergence Station and it blows our minds. No drugs needed here, as it is like trippin’ in a jewelry box, Want a very unique crazy experience? We’ll spend half the day exploring every nook and cranny. Time for dinner afterwards and we head to Linger. in Denver I mean, how can one not like or feel comforted by a place called Linger? Tiny bites, delicious food and drinks, indulgence at it’s finest. To end the trip, we would take a few days in Boulder riding bikes. So many trails to choose from and the views are absolutely stunning. Bikes, coffee shops, trails, and just the opportunity to be. At night, one of my favorite places to take friends and family is a restauruant called My Neighbor Felix on Pearl Street, I love the story of Felix. He fell in love with the Mayan Moon Goddess Ixchel and won the key to her heart by making offerings of food and recipes. I fell in love with this restaurant just as Ixchel fell in love with Felix,
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my yoga mentors Shauna Hylenksi, Allison Rissel, and Sigrid Strebe. Their persistence, fire, and inspiration were everything to me as I completed my 500hr YTT, started my business, and applied to share my knowledge with students and teachers alike at yoga conferences and workshops. They provided me with more than visions in my quest to be a yoga teacher and astrology, they also boosted my self confidence and identified my skills in a way that no one had ever share with me before. I am so grateful for their time, effort, and knowledge they have generously shared with me along my journey, I am honored and proud to be teaching alongside Shauna and Allison as a teacher trainer with the Shri School of Yoga location in Longmont, CO.
