Meet Soley Maria | Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Soley Maria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Soley, what do you attribute your success to?
“There’s no such thing as luck. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity”, is a quote by Amy Hempel that resonates with me. While we can only partially control opportunity (we can be open to and seeking out opportunities, but the fact is not everyone gets the same opportunities), we can absolutely control our own preparedness. I prepare by seeking out knowledge through continuous education, reading, keeping up with my industry, networking and keep improving business practices on every single deal, so that when opportunity presents itself, I’m ready to take it on and succeed, and I think this has really helped me succeed. I also don’t think there is such as thing as achieving maximum success and there’s no one definition of it either so I constantly strive to do better and learn new things. I firmly believe in lifting each others up and sharing our success and knowledge and I have been extremely lucky with the people that have done so for me throughout my career, and it is important to me to do the same to others, as well as make a positive impact in my community. When we see an opportunity to help we should take it as it improves the success of society overall. The final thing I’d attribute to success is integrity, and it is very important to me to act with integrity in life and business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
10 years ago I started in real estate as an unlicensed part time assistant, and then became a full time personal assistant and licensed real estate agent and ultimately went to working on my own as a realtor, all at Kentwood Real Estate. I was a foreigner, a couple of years out of college and most of my friends had moved away so my network was tiny, which can be hard in this industry, but by taking every opportunity to meet interesting people and help and support them, it’s amazing how many wonderful people I’m surrounded with today. I like to create 5 and 10 year plans in work and life, and reminding myself of what those are and that good things take time is crucial. It’s been a few years since I decided to partially move to Breckenridge and expand my business there at a time we had no agents there and very few connections, which was not easy, but with tenacity, patience and the support of my clients and colleagues, I see the results of that more and more every year. I’m proud of the positive reviews and repeat business from all my clients and I’d like to think that my honesty, integrity, knowledge and hard work plays a big role in that. Being in a commission based only role is never easy so aside from planning and financial management, having other friends in the same boat that act as my cheerleaders when things get stressful is crucial.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to dinner at Tavernetta followed by a Friday night concert with the Colorado Symphony, followed by brunch the at Le Bilboquet and shopping in Cherry Creek before heading up to Boulder for drinks at the Kitchen Upstairs and dinner at Oak at 14th of Frasca. Sunday would consist of a hike in Chataqua (weather permitting) and a stroll on the Pearl Street mall followed by a visit to the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and a show at the Boulder Theater. Monday we’d jump in the car and drive up to Nederland and take the scenic route over to I70 and head to Breckenridge where we’d ski for two days with no crowds since it’s mid week, enjoying dinners at Tin Plate Pizza and Hearthstone, and some much needed spa time at Blue Sage Spa.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Kentwood Real Estate for giving me a chance when I was brand new, particularly the opportunity Christy Owen gave me in my first few years in business, Brandon Brennick’s mentorship, Gretchen Rosenberg’s leadership and Keri Duffy’s never ending support and friendship. My parents and stepmom for believing in me and being wonderful role models.
