Meet Solis Entertainment | Queer ran specialty entertainment company with a focus on fire and aerial performance art.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Solis Entertainment and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Solis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We have been a part of the movement and performance arts community for years and have connected with so many incredible flow artists. Feeling the immense passion and love for the art, we wanted to create our own little family. The flow and fire performing artists we have connected with that are local to Denver are very talented and dedicated to their craft. We saw the passion that is present especially amongst the queer artists that we know and really wanted to create something special that gave us queer artists a platform to share our art with as many people as possible. Collaboration is a big part of what we do; Individually we all have unique styles of flow, but when we come together, we inspire each other and create completely new and unique forms of art with fire. Queer fire manipulators bring a special flare to the community of movement and performance arts. Typically, fire performers are usually either focused on their technical skills with their props rather than stage presence or vice versa; mostly stage presence and less focus on technical skills. Members of our entertainment company focus on both, combining stage presence with practiced skills to create an elevated performance style. The harmony of having both of these aspects in a performance is something we specialize in.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Something that sets us apart is that we were all friends before we created our team, which allowed us to feel comfortable in our combined create energies. We are all about love, connection, and community, and our combined love for the craft can be seen in every performance. We’re excited to continue being inspired by each other and growing together. We are constantly working on different routines and collaborations, and always get excited by any chance to share what we’ve come up with. We’re extremely proud of how far we’ve already come in the last four months since we started, having already performed at several local events and music festivals around the country, and we can’t wait to keep the fire burning. The process has proven challenging in some aspects, seeing how we are new to running our own business, but our passion for what we’re doing has fueled us along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love to take the girls to X Bar and Charlie’s, two of our favorite gay bars in Denver. We have performed at X Bar a few times and love getting to collaborate with them. If we’re going out to eat, we love El 5, Mister Oso, Jinya Ramen, and Blue Sushi just to name a few. Some fun local bars we like to go to are Gold Point, Recess, Beacon, Millers & Rossi, and the Pink Flamingo. However, we like to spend our time in local parks like Cheeseman and City Park so we can practice out in the sun surrounded by nature.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to recognize all the incredible fire entertainment groups and artists that have been doing this for years and have paved a path for us to create our own in our own style. We are constantly inspired by the ever-growing community and inspiring art that is put out by the artists we’ve had the pleasure of connecting with. We wouldn’t be here doing what we do without our community.
