Meet Stephen Bucher | Owner of Diamondship Mechanical

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Bucher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to start my own business for several reasons. My wife and I have been mentored for several years by a highly successful couple on the board of a multi-billion dollar company. They have always taught me that control of time and money begins with ownership. If individuals do not take advantage of free enterprise, they miss out on one of this country’s greatest gifts. By owning my own business, I can take control of my future and drive it to whatever level I desire. With ownership, you lose the theoretical protective “safety net floor” of employment but also remove the cap. I can get paid for what I produce, not the hours I sell to another.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started as a green apprentice in the HVAC industry about ten years ago. I was privileged to work for all ten years in the same company. That company gave me several unique opportunities. First of all, they were a small 4-person company when I joined that company. When I left, they were a relatively large company with over 50 employees. I was able to watch and see how a successful company grows. Another opportunity I was granted with this company was how diverse its scope was. I was able to get significant experience in both residential and commercial. I spent time as an installer and as a service technician. I installed and repaired small residential furnaces in the morning, and then in the afternoon; I worked on giant chillers and boilers. This gave me an incredibly well-rounded experience in the trade.
Being successful is not easy, but to a certain degree, it’s not incredibly complicated. You make little changes in your daily habits that point you to being successful and you don’t quit. Enthusiasm, empathy, and optimism will get you through most challenges and are key to finding success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorado Springs is fun! I would want to visit the top of Pikes Peak.
A day in Manitou Springs for shopping and eating.
We would visit the Broadmore.
There would be a drive through Garden of the Gods.
Red Gravey for Italian food.
Pepper Tree for the best steak ever.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The personal development I have achieved over the last several years has exponentially increased from the mentorship I received from the organization World Wide Group. The Hills and the Danzik’s have poured into me selflessly. It has been an in-depth study of personal growth and entrepreneurship.
