We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Shireman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Trusting in God and putting my faith in his plan has brought me all of my success! There were countless times I would try something on my own and fall flat and found myself back at ground zero! Learning to listen to the Lords leading and guidance has taken me from a backyard bbq hobby to a full time catering business and now the opening of our first Kiosk in Downtown Denver!! Blessed BBQ continues to expand our footprint with big plans coming in the next year or two!! Letting go and Letting God lead is the single most important decision I have made!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
BBQ is truly an art form. The countless hours that go into every protein we prepare are crafted with just the right combination of rubs and seasonings. Our Brisket is a 40 hour process from the time it enters our walk in cooler to the time we serve it to our guests. Our BBQ sauces are all homemade and taken years to develop.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has played a huge role in the success of Blessed BBQ. We are family owned and operated. My wife has learned accounting, web design, and operations all in a matter of weeks to help our business succeed. Our Teenage son loves to work in the kiosk and help prepare our chicken. Little Chef aka our 5 year old can always be found at the kiosk giving out drinks and chips and just making everyone happy.
