We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Fuller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to build a brewery that had a simple mission. Help Veterans and have a safe place for people to come together and enjoy a beer. From the lay out of the taproom, the events and fund raisers we hold, to the free brewing classes we offer, it was all planned out to facilitate fostering a place that was relaxing and stress free as possible. No TV’s, no loud music, and lots of games to allow people to connect and not have to shout to be heard. We wanted to be unique in a city with a large beer culture. Even offering Mug club member perks above and beyond most.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wackadoo Brewing is the only brewery in America to ever be part of a VFW. Every day we strive to support and help other Veteran organizations, both non-profit and service organizations to help Veterans. From giving our spent grains to a Veteran farmer to feed his animals, to the way the taproom is laid out to make Veterans feel safe and comfortable, to the number of beers we donate a portion of the proceeds to Veteran Non-profit groups, even offering free brewing classes to Veterans and direct family members of Veterans, everything here is for and through Veterans

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Sheldon’s Diner has the best breakfast/lunch in town hands down. Storybook Brewing, Bell’s Brothers brewery, Batch Slap brewing, and Mash Mechanic’s for sure to enjoy a night out with beer
Garden of the God’s for hiking and spectacular views
Old Colorado springs for shopping and atmosphere

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

VFW post 6461 in fountain, CO for giving me the chance to become the only brewery in America to ever be part of a VFW. Pete Kilman, the owner of Storybook Brewing for being a great mentor and allowing me to brew at his brewery while getting my new taproom up and running
Disgruntled Veterans and 22 until none, for all their support and encouragement over the years and helping me make Wackadoo Brewing the home and beacon for Veterans that it is today.
