Meet Tamara Herl | Potential and Purpose Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Herl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business because I was part of a system that felt outdated and dysfunctional to me. It felt outdated because many of the methods being used were the same ones that have been used for nearly 100 years. It felt dysfunctional because the status quo included productivity expectations that were unrealistic and unhealthy.
The dysfunction really bothered me. At first I just complained, but then I realized I was there for a reason. I was meant to help things change.
I jokingly wore a Wonder Woman costume to work on Halloween while I was working there. It was a subtle way to protest what was happening. Working 10 hour days is acceptable on occasion, but not when it becomes the status quo.
I tried to change the system from within, but that didn’t work, so I decided to break away and start my own system.
What should our readers know about your business?
Wild Divine Retreat Center supports socially conscious entrepreneurs and spiritual seekers who feel called to help humanity transform systems that are no longer working.
Clients can take part in 1:1 and group coaching and retreats, team building experiences, and labyrinth walks at our 9 acre property in Cascade, CO, or virtually.
There are two things that set me apart from other
coaches. The first is experiential learning. During sessions, we spend a lot of time out in nature or creating images. If the sessions are virtual, I set up the experience with the person and they go out and do it. Then we connect again and talk about what happened and what that means. This process helps people step outside of their problem or challenge and see things from a new perspective. Then they can come up with solutions whenever a new challenge pops up in their life.
The second thing that sets my work apart is the focus on spirituality. I show my clients how to recognize and understand divine guidance that shows up in nature and in their art when they ask for it. And when that guidance shows up, it’s inspiring and profound for them to experience and for me to witness.
There have been some challenges involved in getting to where I am today. I had to learn about how to be a business owner, and not just a service provider. Connecting with professional networking groups has been helpful.
I’ve also had to grow personalIy, which is an ongoing process. I believe success as an entrepreneur involves pushing past our “edges,” which are the things that make us really uncomfortable. So, to push past my edge related to public speaking, I attend at least one in person networking meeting every week.
It has been quite a journey to gain clarity about who my ideal client is and how to explain the transformation they experience. Years of working with personal coaches has helped me realize that my purpose is to help other people unlock their potential so they can live their life purpose.
I feel a sense of urgency about people living their potential and purpose. There are so many systems in the world that are need of transformation. We can’t wait for the government or someone else to “fix” these things. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to see Garden of the Gods, followed by a meal at Adam’s Mountain Cafe.
We would visit Green Mountain Falls and visit the lake and quaint shops near there.
The visit wouldn’t be complete without a trip to see Rita the Rock Planter sculpture near Cripple Creek, where we could also do some shopping.
And then of course, I would invite them to walk the 9 acres of trails and labyrinth here at Wild Divine Retreat Center, followed by lunch at Fern’s Diner or Wines of Colorado, both here in Cascade.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are 3 men who have been instrumental in my success.
The first is Bob Ault, who was a mentor to me while I was earning my master’s degree in art therapy. He helped me see the value in work I was doing with survivors of a tornado, and encouraged me to publish an article about it.
The second is Michael Jospe, who taught me how to notice and understand the consciousness of Nature so that I can draw upon that wisdom. I now see Nature as my partner on both a professional and personal level.
The third is Guthrie Sayen, who helped me learn about Parts Work, which is the most efficient and effective model I have ever seen for healing past trauma and tapping into purpose and potential. This is key, because we must clear away old wounds and limitations to create space for our potential to emerge.
