Meet Tamara Nisbeth | Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Nisbeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Montego Bay Jamaica, I’ve loved to cook since I was a child, my grandmother Ms. Daisy, who raised me was also an amazing cook. She passed away when I was still very young 14, in honor of her memory I enrolled in food preparation in high school. The more I learned the more passionate I became about cooking I decided to make it my career choice, and went to culinary arts school.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my professional culinary journey as a chef at “Sandals Royal Caribbean” in Montego, I then went on to the “Breakers Palm Beach Hotel” in Florida and The Broadmoore Hotel in Colorado Springs.
I’m where I am today because of my daughter La-Doniea, in 2013 she was selected to attend the “Junior Achievement Program” in Beijing China. I was super excited and proud of her but, I couldn’t afford the trip cost. She had worked so hard for this and I didn’t want her to miss out on such a wonderful opportunity to travel and to learn.
I decided to have a bake sale at my home, I made all the delicious Jamaican treats that aren’t available in Co, it was a great success. Clients enjoyed the products and requested I continued baking on the weekends.
I was able to earn enough money for my daughter to complete her study abroad program and I became an entrepreneur.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to always consistently show up for your purpose and for yourself, have faith that whatever you’re doing will turn out well.
What I want people to know about me, I looooove reggae music. The moment I decided to open my restaurant I knew “Reggae” had to be apart of it.
What I want people to know about my brand.
All of us here at Reggae Pot enjoys what we do. We value our customers and wants to make sure they experience a true taste of our beautiful island, by serving authentic Jamaican food with a splash of love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friends are visiting, I’d definitely take them to see a reggae show at Red Rocks.
Summer events like, Fivepoints Jazz, Juneteenth Celebration and Winter Park Fest
I love to hike so we’d check out some of beautiful hiking trails.
The coolest place I’ve been to in Co is the Sand Dunes.
We usually enjoy eating at the Rabbit Hole, Pepper Tree and Pappadeaux’s

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my dedicated team at Reggae Pot, who continues to go above and beyond for me. Without my team I wouldn’t be able to do none of this. I love you guy’s
I also want to thank my family for their love and support, and for giving me grace when I’m unavailable. I love you guy’s.
