We had the good fortune of connecting with The Kaleidoscope Kid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Kaleidoscope Kid, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Being a musician, there were years that I was just sleeping in a studio. My work and life were so intertwined, but it felt balanced. I was following a passion and chasing my curiosity unapologetically. As the years have passed and my values have changed, I’ve had to really understand what it means to balance the two. The most important thing for me, and it sounds so cliche, but it would have to be my morning routine. Life will be stressful at times. There will be hard conversations, challenges at work, or any series of unfortunate events. So it’s not about avoiding those hurdles, it’s about how you pick yourself up when you fall down. Exercise your body and mind, do cold therapy wether it’s an ice bath or a cold shower, and breath work. For me that’s been the key to finding a good work life balance.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always found myself creating wether it was drawing, painting, filming skate videos or making music. Now at 30 years old I find myself traveling around the United States touring, playing music I love. It’s been the most rewarding and chaotic decision of my life to pursue this as a career. The thing about music that I’m most proud of is that I never gave up. It feels as though this path is more than just a career, I feel purpose in It, and it has taught me so much about myself and life. It hasn’t always been easy, but whenever I face challenges I just remember my “why” and look for the lesson in it. I think for me the goal is to create something that outlives me, something that’s leaves this world a little better than I found it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m seriously surrounded by so many incredible, loving, and inspiring people. My partner, my family and friends. The team of people who have helped my music career build so I can make a living doing what I love! They all believe in me so much. At times more than I believe in myself. I feel through all the hard work, all the wins and losses, that I’m not alone. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you all.
