We had the good fortune of connecting with Tom Franks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tom, what do you want your legacy to be?
My aim with my writing has always been to create stories that are so gripping and captivating that it gives you a break from everyday stresses. I hope to be remembered for achieving that. When people talk about my writing, I want them to remember it as “unputdownable”. If what I create can take people away from moments of stress, sadness, or anxiety, I have achieved my aim.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an author, I believe my writing style sets me apart. I like to try and paint a picture that’s so vivid, that it feels like you’re there watching things unfold alongside the character. Funnily enough, the easy part was writing the book. You’d assume that once that was over, everything else falls into place but that’s not the case. There is a lot of hard work that goes into a book release: building hype, trying to create visibility, and marketing daily to try and get more exposure. However, when you love what you do, it is easy to work at those things. Things that I once may have considered roadblocks are now merely speedbumps.

I just want the world to enjoy my writing. Books are a brilliant escape, a great way to relax and switch off for an hour or two.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having only moved to Colorado from England in 2021, everything about this state is incredible to me. I feel that having a great day out here is the easiest thing in the world. Ideally, it would be a day out in Denver. Go for a big breakfast, watch a Broncos game, and drink some delicious beers. I’d follow that with a two-day trip to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The chance to get outdoors, enjoy the stunning scenery, and hopefully see some native wildlife. The rest of the time would be spent showing them around Colorado Springs, my hometown. Visit Garden of the Gods, summit Pikes Peak, and, of course, more delicious beers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, my Wife. Without her support and encouragement, I would never have followed my dreams. Secondly, anyone who has read my debut novel ‘Little Lamb’. Every individual who has read it has helped start the process of me having a lifelong dream realized,
