We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Pestello and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tony, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I grew up in rural Minnesota involved in a family-owned furniture business. I have always loved to solve problems and help people. Kelly and I saw an opportunity to do just that in Summit County Colorado. We wanted our community and surrounding mountain communities to have an option for fashionable affordable furniture and not have to drive to Denver. This started iFurnish.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Like most people that start in a family business you start at the bottom. I swept floors, cleaned and fixed furniture, delivered furniture, sold and serviced the customer in every way. I think when you do this you truly understand the whole process that not only your client goes through but your employees as well.
I would never ask our employees to do anything that Kelly or I wouldn’t do ourselves. Same goes for our customers; iFurnish lives by the Golden Rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This is easier said than done. We have to work it into all aspects of our company and instill it into our whole iFurnish team.
iFurnish likes to build relationships that has furniture attached to it. If you are trying to solve problems for our clients and truly want to help them, iFurnish has done our job to get them the furniture they want.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We happen to work and live in the most beautiful place in the world. We are located in Summit County Colorado, right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. We have 5 world-class ski resorts that we get to play on winter or summer. Summit County is often called “Colorado’s Playground” because of all things that are at our fingertips. Skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, horseback riding, biking, fishing, hunting, golfing…the opportunities are endless.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Kelly and I would like to shout to all of our current, past and future employees that helped us grow. The other big shout out is to all of our amazing customers that have supported us through the last 12 years. The combination of great employees and wonderful customers has afforded us the opportunity to give back to our community via non-profits, local youth sports teams, business associations, and many other community organizations.
