We had the good fortune of connecting with Torrie Cutshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Torrie, how do you think about risk?
Taking the risk is the first step with anything, really. I’ve always been the type of person who dives in head first, I think when you start to overthink potential life- changing decisions you can talk yourself out of it before you even tried. I changed my mindset early on when I was working towards owning a business and without that shift in my mind and working on myself every day I definitely don’t think I’d be where I am today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a permanent makeup studio and academy! It’s funny because I never thought this would be the business I’d be running. I was actually working towards opening a different business when I first heard of permanent makeup. I’m also a licensed esthetician so I’ve always been in tune with the beauty industry and when I heard about an industry that was starting to take off I did my research and just went for it! It definitely wasn’t easy- I had $0 in my bank account when I first started. My first space was I think 400 square ft but I was happy that I even had a place to get started! I had all the training for the right mentality when starting my business but I honestly had no clue how to run one properly. I just had to learn from my own mistakes and keep pushing forward! My dream was to help others see their potential, teach them about running their own business and showing them that they really are capable of anything if they work hard and have the right mindset.

4 years later I now have a 1,700+ square foot space and an amazing team I trained to work alongside me! I have trained over 50 students at my academy and hope to continue to grow that number exponentially in the next few years.

I want my brand to be known for helping others. I feel like I run my business with a lot of integrity. I know what it feels like to not have good and honest people in my corner and I hope that when someone comes through my doors whether it’s for training or for me to do their brows, that they feel welcome when they come and filled with confidence when they leave.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting and I were to show them the best time ever, I would take them to downtown Berlin, Ohio! There are so many small businesses in the area so it’s hard to pick just a few. To make it simple I would just make a few pit stops along my way to Berlin. Shopping at Bfearless, get pampered at Rig – Co, eat at Rebecca’s Bistro and maybe finish off the weekend with wine at Hans Place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly I give credit to my door to door sales job in Colorado. It really taught me a lot and got me out of my comfort zone. It showed me that I’m capable of way more than I think I am.
