Meet Tyler Lane | Founder & CEO of Session Interactive

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Lane and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my own business because I was tired of watching smart, capable teams get held back. Whether it was bloated agency models, leadership disconnected from the real work, or strategies built for slides not outcomes, it just felt broken.
It wasn’t about chasing freedom or building some dream lifestyle. It was about doing the work in a way that actually makes a difference. I wanted to be in the room where decisions were happening, not just reacting to them. And I did not want to wait around for someone to hand me that opportunity.
So I built it.
Every part of the business has been shaped by that mindset. Make it sharper. Make it real. Make it something I would want to be on the other side of. That clarity has driven everything from the clients we take on to the way we operate day to day.
At the end of the day, I just wanted to build something that actually works. Something I could be proud to put my name on.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Session Interactive is a performance marketing agency built on one core principle: quality drives everything. We do not cut corners. Every deliverable reflects the standard we set from day one, because in this space, your reputation is your advantage.
What makes us different is the team. We are all senior operators with over a decade of experience. No fluff, no fillers. Just sharp people solving complex problems with creativity, precision, and real accountability. Analytics is at the center of how we work. It is not a support role. It is the engine.
We also take pride in thinking beyond our scope. Most clients come to us for SEO or paid search, but we make sure our work supports the bigger picture. Growth is messy. There is always more going on behind the scenes, and we try to be the kind of partner who shows up for all of it.
What I am most proud of today is the strength of the team. We are close to thirty people now, and for the first time, this thing is starting to run without me having to touch every decision. That is no small milestone. Even more meaningful is seeing team members step up into leadership roles, take ownership, and shape what Session becomes next. That evolution is the real win.
The path here was anything but smooth. When I first moved to Denver, I had almost no experience. Picked up a contract role doing design and marketing, then joined a health company that gave me my first look at real agency work. From there, I moved into faster environments like Intelligent Demand and Burns Marketing. I got deep into SEO, analytics, and strategy.
And I also got let go. More than once. Sometimes it was budget cuts. Sometimes I just was not the right fit. The last agency role I had was at Location3. That is where I started to really own my expertise, but again, it became clear I needed to build something of my own.
So I started consulting. I leaned on my network, took on the work, and built Session from scratch. No investors, no shortcuts. Just consistent execution and a strong point of view.
The biggest lessons? Quality scales better than hype. Relationships are everything. And if you are not evolving, you are falling behind.
If there is one thing I want people to know about Session, it is that we are not here to play the agency game. We are here to deliver real impact, build long-term partnerships, and raise the standard for what performance marketing should look like.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a close friend was visiting, we are definitely not doing the typical tourist runaround. I would give them a real look at what makes Colorado special. That means some time in the city, good food, solid coffee, places with actual character, but mostly we would be in the mountains. That is where I go to reset and think, and it is where I would want them to see the best side of this place.
We would hit a few of my favorite hikes. Not just scenic loops, but the kind that push you a little and give you those quiet moments above the tree line where everything feels clear. Think alpine lakes, big views, and a sense of space you cannot get in a city.
Back in town, I would make sure they eat well. Spots like Tavernetta, Safta, and The Wolf’s Tailor, places that get the details right. We would grab cocktails at Room for Milly, maybe catch a show at Red Rocks if the timing works. And yes, we would squeeze in a burrito from Santiago’s. Non negotiable.
The goal would not be to impress them. It would be to slow things down, have some real conversations, and show them why I chose to build a life and a business here. The people, the energy, the access to nature, it all adds up. Denver has layers, and if you know where to look, it is a great place to land for a while.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my journey building Session Interactive, I’ve been fortunate to learn from and be supported by some incredible individuals. Mark Mitton at Gravity Global has been an especially pivotal figure, a sharp mind and generous mentor whose guidance I deeply respect. At Ground Floor Media, both Laura Love and Jim have offered invaluable insight and support. Their leadership style and approach to agency building really stuck with me.
Daylin Wirtz is another person who’s been instrumental. I had the opportunity to work with her during my years at Comcast, and her approach to strategy and people continues to influence the way I lead today.
I also have to mention Troy Lerner of Booyah. As someone who’s built a standout agency in Colorado, Troy has long been someone I look up to. He, along with other local agency leaders, has set a bar for what it means to grow with integrity, creativity, and staying power.
Each of these people impacted me in unique ways, and I’ll always be grateful for the role they played, not just in shaping my business approach, but also in inspiring me to push further with Session Interactive.
