We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Pollock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, what do you attribute your success to?
(I’m going to break the rule and give my top two). For me, the most important factors lending to success are empathy and unrelenting optimism. Empathy brings a sense of understanding without judgement to every situation which allows for a safe environment for change to occur. It’s important that people feel heard, understood, and accepted so they can take the next step towards making massive improvements in their health and well-being. Unrelenting optimism is the driving force of my life. I genuinely believe that good things are always on the horizon. If some of that energy can be transferred to others, even if it’s just for a moment, that part of my purpose is fulfilled. That’s not to say that tough times won’t happen. They most certainly do. Optimism keeps those bad times in perspective, so that I can relish the good moments.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At The Performance Project, we provide highly specialized care for dedicated athletes and active adults to recover from and prevent injuries. We address pain and movement dysfunction in a one-on-one setting to help people stay healthy in the long-term. The Performance Project was born out of a desire to give people better outcomes than traditional physical therapy and which required us to go outside of the traditional healthcare route of insurance. Ultimately, the service we provide is much more individualized and provides solutions to movement problems people deal with daily. The challenges we’ve faced are always met with relentless optimism, knowing that a solution has yet to reveal itself. I’ve learned that patience is essential and grit is necessary to move forward. Our brand is about helping people move, live, and perform better. We aren’t about quick fixes and instead focus on individual’s health for the long-haul.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, if you’re a mountain person, I’d say there are more than a few trails/hikes to hit. I would first spend a night downtown, and catch a Rockies game if you can. Head over to the RiNo area and check out some of the breweries. Then head up to the mountains in the Buena Vista area for plenty of camping and hiking spots (if you’re up for a good challenge there are several 14ers to climb up!)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A big shoutout to Danny Mata and the group over at PT Biz for inspiring me to take the leap of opening my own Performance-Based Physical Therapy Clinic.
