We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I am Hispanic. I feel like most of us Hispanics have always had to work extra hard for everything we earn. This was the case in my family. Most of my childhood was spent with babysitters or, once we got old enough, stayed home by ourselves while both my parents worked full time jobs. We learned to fend for ourselves and learned the value of money quite young. Because of this, at a young age I decided I wanted to do something to change this and wanted to give my future kids a more present parent. Don’t get me wrong, I love my parents and they tried as hard as they could to give us a decent life but I do wish we had more time to spend with them. Working a 9-5 job is hard when you want to also be able to raise your kids. So I decided to open up my own business to give me the flexibility to be able to be with my kids and never miss a milestone in their lives! You can work hard to build an empire, surround yourself in your work, gain all the money in the world and still come home feeling as lonely as ever! To me, family is the most important factor to the success of my business. It’s sets not only me, but them up for success as well!

What should our readers know about your business?
I opened up 303 Staging and Designs Co as my first step into real estate. Like I said earlier, I love any thing to do with a home. I love going in and seeing the rooms I’ll be decorating or staging and my mind begins to go 100 miles per hour to see how I’ll be transforming these spaces. I love to see my Clients faces when I’m done and I see that look of, “wow I love it!” After decorating for a few years, I just started thinking of how am I going to expand now. What step do I take next? And that next step for me was to obtain my real estate license. So I did just that! This is still pretty new. I just became a Realtor. But again, I am excited to see how I will fight my way to the top in this area! Listen, when I say that I started from zero I mean that I started from zero. Nobody handed me money. It did not fall from the sky and magically appear and my business is, boom, up and running. But I am a Latina. And we latinas don’t take no for an answer. So where one person has closed or will close a door on me, I looked or will look for another 7 doors to open up until I get my “yes”. I am the first one in my immediate family to venture out as a business owner so I had no idea what I was doing. I’ve worked extra hard to prove myself not so much to others but to prove myself to me. You are always your biggest critic. Am I perfect? No. Have I made mistakes in the business? Yes. Have I let down clients? Most definitely. But, I always find a way to learn from and correct my mistake and move on. I’m excited to see how both my businesses grow in the next few years!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first, MOUNTAINS! There is nothing more beautiful than our amazing Colorado Mountains! My favorite area to get away to is Breckenridge! That town is small yet so full of life! Favorite restaurants up there is definitely Empire Burger and Giampintro Pasta & Pizzeria. Definitely take my bestie to go see Isak Heartstone the troll in Breck! Estes Park is another great little mountain town to visit! Pearl St in Boulder is nice to walk as well. Lots of restaurants, shops and tons of interesting people! There’s 16th St Mall, so many things to do here in CO! In my opinion, no better state to live in!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve always been obsessed with all things real estate and home decorating! I am addicted to watching HGTV! I feel like I could do a whole home renovation just based on the amount of shows I’ve seen on that channel! More specifically, I LOVE watching Chip and Joanna Gains on Fixer Upper. They are the ones that really got my interest started in my businesses. I bought Joanna Gains’ book ,‘Home Body’, to expand my knowledge more and because their style of decorating is similar to mine! They also have the same core family values that I have and really inspire me to keep pushing! If they can do it, so can I!
