We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Amesbury and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I planned my own wedding in 2014-2015, and it was literally the longest year of my life. It was hard to balance my education, personal life, and the many hours of research and DIY projects I put into my wedding planning. I believed I didn’t need the assistance of a professional when it came to florals or the planning process, which in the end put a lot of stress on me as well as my family and bridal party who were helping. I began my business because I wanted to help other brides enjoy their planning experience and to have the best day ever on their wedding day. I also wanted to ensure their day is seamless and stress-free so they and their loved ones could have fun celebrating!

What should our readers know about your business?
One thing we pride ourselves in is that we create a fun environment for all those we work with, not only our couples but for our fellow vendors as well! We truly love building friendships with other vendors and believe that when everyone working together has a good relationship it shows in all our work and creates for an awesome wedding experience for our clients, their loved ones, and each of us. We absolutely love what we do as wedding planners and go above and beyond to make the planning process for our couples easy, stress-free, and enjoyable.

To be at this point, I had to network and get to know so many wonderful vendors in the Finger Lakes region. It took time and was quite daunting knowing most of these professionals had been in the industry around 10 years and that I was just getting started, however, many of them supported me by collaborating with me to create beautiful events or encouraging me on social media. I have grown in confidence and in experience so much already yet know there’s more to learn which makes me so excited for where my business will be in just a few years!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Finger Lakes region is such a beautiful area to explore! I would have to suggest a day in Rochester where there are cool coffee shops like Java’s Cafe right down the road from a great rock climbing gym. There are also several museums to tour.

I would of course encourage to go on a hike or two, there are hundreds to choose from. If hiking doesn’t sound like fun, then the wine trails may be a better fit. Being in wine country, there are so many gorgeous places to visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many who have supported me in my journey of taking my passion of event planning from a hobby to a thriving business! With raising three little kids (all under the age of 5) my husband Luke and my parents Heather and Brian had major roles in helping me start up my business. Once I began my business, I invested in a 6-12 month wedding professional mentorship called Planners Who Profit. My coach Feyisola Ogunfemi helped my business and I grow tremendously! With the many hours of working together, weekly coaching sessions and critiques, I was able to build my business from the ground up. I would not be where I am today without her encouragement and guidance.
