We had the good fortune of connecting with Vito (Big V of Nappy Roots) Tisdale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vito (Big V of Nappy Roots), can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Knowing that being an entrepeneuris the key to financial freedom and that the best thing to do is to bet on yourself

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the former member and front man of the multi-platinum hip-hop group Nappy Roots. I am responsible for several of the group’s biggest hits including “Po Folks” and “Aww Naw”. Hip Hop magazine XXL named me to to their top ten rap voices list. I left the group in 2012 to concentrate on being a father but has recently decided that the time was right to return to music. With singles like “When We Were Young ” a tribute to both my time in Nappy Roots and the trials of being a young parent along with “Street Boy” which chronicles the problems in relationships marked by drug abuse and infidelity, and the song “It’s Ok which the Grammy-nominated rapper chronicles my personal challenges and setbacks, while comforting and encouraging listeners along the way, I am now re-introducing myself to the music world as a talented solo artist. My current single “All On Me” featuring R&B artist Urban Mystic is a grown man’s view of how you should treat the woman in your life and is sure to be a favorite among my female fans.
I’ve also added actor to my lists of accomplishments landing roles in the movies “Don’t Shoot The Messenger”, “Business of Christmas 2”, “Blue and Black Tears” and a lead role in the film “45 Seconds”.
The thing I am most proud of is being a father. Allof my kids are either in college or has some kind of profession. Coming out of Kentucky into the rap game was hard because no one here had done before. Thankfully Kareem Abdul Jabbar Junior heard our music and took it to some people at Atlantic records and the rest was history. The lessons I learned was never let anyone else control your dreams and don’t attach a cost to yor soul.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to my dispensary “Top Of Da South” then to a restaurant called Ski Daddy’s for some catfish and choicken tenders I wold also make a stop by the Corvette museum and plant. and for some outdoor adventure we would go Beech Bend Amusement park and travel 30 miles down the highway to Mammoth Cave the largest cave system in the world
