We had the good fortune of connecting with Watson Lewis-Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Watson, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Hey Voyage, I’d like to clarify initially, I’m an amateur entrepreneur looking to teach individuals a few years younger than me. The most important lesson I’ve found after leading our team to initial milestones and goals we’ve set for ourselves was realizing the impact and importance of listening to individuals on the team, building relationships, having personal conversations with them, and providing the right resources towards their personal development has started to build strong commitment and loyalty in Pigeon DAO. Although I have a service LLC, I’m coming as an amateur entrepreneur wanting to mentor and educate individuals a few years younger than me, so I’ve found that having the skill to build bonds is also essential, through short conversations where ideas, agreements, and motivation is thrown around with confidence and ease builds trust on the management aspect while making newer team members feel more comfortable in new environments. Having these conversations shows the importance each individual has on the team and the power they genuinely have in the project.
Although this seems obvious to most, younger individuals, especially nowadays should understand and focus on trying to find a project or business that goes along with their principles and ethics, and adjusting their project towards creating as much impact as you can to help others. I’ve been throwing around business concepts for a few years now, and I’ve found with this project is that once you have a motive to help others along with your principles while playing with cool technology, there’s so much enthusiasm and purpose in pursuing your project, whether it’s a for-profit organization or a movement that distributes cash from the treasury, having a clear vision and trying to find enjoyment in every fraction of what you do to make this succeed, will truly make it viable. Understanding why you’re creating this and fulfilling that purpose in committing to it creates a trail of opportunities for you and your team. With that all mentioned, it also makes it much easier to find other people to join you when you’re able to articulate your motives in a way that touches people’s hearts, rather than seeing it as a business, seeing it as a project that builds relationships and opportunities, you perceive genuine success from the time involvement rather than the end result.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sure, Pigeon DAO is a progressively decentralized peer-to-peer courier network utilizing blockchain and web3.0 technology. Better put, we’re building the next pillar to a truly decentralized society in which supply chain and commerce can be fulfilled in transparent blockchains, with individuals becoming entrepreneurs where they only need their mobile phone, and vehicle. Pigeon can fulfill any participant’s need if there is a demand by drivers. We are focusing on empoweringthe 1.6billion unbanked individuals in which the majority of them have access to mobile devices and vehicles, we are accessing the inaccessible, and creating jobs for entrepreneurs around the world. The beauty of this movement is that we can move any size package, from small envelopes to industrial materials to specialized goods, from any distance, where drivers receive 99.3% of every sale immediately after every transaction, we are offering something much more beneficial and empowering for the individuals currently using Uber and DoorDash globally, through introducing and educating crypto to countries and regions that face corruption and greed, drivers regionally choose their rates, and time expenses, which goes against the traditional tipping method.
We are now growing quickly, with talks with VCs from EthDubai, Ambassadors in El Salvador, couriers around America, and developers globally, as we’ve gotten more immersed in crypto, Noah Maskens, the other Cofounder has discussed ideas with founders and CEOs in the sector.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was only in Denver for three days, however, a day should solely be dedicated to viewing the skyline, driving out into the beautiful mountains of Denver, a great hike is essential. The Mint, an Indian restaurant is also excellent, near our hotel in central Denver, you should surely try everything on the menu. I was attending EthDenver for a majority of it and slept when it was closed, however, if they ever host it again in Denver, you will definitely need to get in for free, millions, if not tens of millions was spent in marketing, growing the community and building trust in crypto, there is so much money and investments put into showing the beauty of the future, and if you have a chance, you should visit an Ethereum networking event! 6th street was absolutely stunning with the mountain range all around the city, it’s a great place to just walk around and see a stunning city, with excellent food and a friendly community, there is endless amounts to pursue while you’re there, however I was fortunately and unfortunately only had the time to attend the Ethereum Spork DAO event!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Obviously my mom! Big ups, thank you for giving Noah a place to stay for the month, I definitely should get you a gift or two, thanks for spending your time caring for us kids instead of pursuing a lot of creative works, but now we’ll repay you!
Beyond that cheesy shoutout, definitely the entire team as well. I wish I had the time to name them all directly, however, I just wanted to give a massive thanks to my friend, solidity contract, and game developer, Ayden, or WraithWinterly on Discord. He’s an ambitious student whose developer our Solidity contracts after a week of hands-on learning, as well as making multiple games for personal interest that are now released on Steam, he’s pursuing a ton outside of school and continues to learn as much as he can whenever he has a few minutes. I would like to show my appreciation to him specifically in this post because of his previous time investment and involvement in Pigeon, he’s active in every call and cares about personal development as much as growth in the project, he’s found a lot of purpose and fulfillment in the DAO, and has found plenty of opportunities because of it.
I wanted to also thank everyone in the team, for providing years of experience and resources which I can give to others to help them personally, willing to call frequently to discuss awesome ideas and the future of our project, there isn’t enough time for me to say as much as I truly would have wanted too, however, these are the most self-motivated and bright individuals on our team, and they truly need to be recognized much further beyond their involvement on Discord, and they are the next generation mentors of the future. These individuals need to be recognized for the hard work, consistency, and constant learning they pursue every single day to perceive change much further than what their eyes will show them on the computer.
