We had the good fortune of connecting with Yunuell Sanchez Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yunuell, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Coming from a Hispanic/Latino background I always saw the challenges of not speaking English brought to the people that were around me.
I started my journey as an ESL instructor at the age of 19, striving not only to teach but to learn and help people achieve their goals.
I got the idea for an ESL Center a few years back, I worked on my teaching skills, I put to practice everything I had learned and little by little everything fell into place and I was able to finally open Aztlan ESL Learning Center
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Aztlan ESL Learning Center is the outcome of our first business SO Constructors LLC. in 2019 my husband and I decided we wanted to venture out and open our own construction company, and so we did. Our biggest challenge at the time was the pandemic and due to everything that was happening it was difficult to get the company going.
After a few months of seeking project opportunities, and having no luck, we received a call that changed everything for us. We started getting construction projects and overcame the challenges. After that we were able to have the funding to open up Aztlan.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to always be patient, at one point everything might seem like a bad idea or you might second guess yourself, but if you keep pushing yourself towards your goals, if you believe in them and in you no matter what, things change and get better.
Never ever give up and always before anything put God first.
I want the world to know that it is possible to achieve what you want, dreams can be obtainable no matter how far fetched they seem.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I personally enjoy having dinner and drinks at Fogo de Chão.
A summer activity I enjoy is seating at a baseball game or having some drinks and meeting new people downtown.
Also visiting the garden of the Gods in CO Springs.
Hiking in Estes park, or taking a little road trip to the hot springs.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to all the people who supported me and believed in me.
In particular to the woman who made my imagination run wild and planted that seed in me that I too could open up my own business. Her name is Vickey Cooper.
And a special shout out to my partner in crime, my husband, without his daily support, patience, and love, this journey wouldn’t be as incredible as it is.
