Meet Yvonne Jacobs | Interior Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvonne Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi yvonne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always loved being part of a team, so I knew when I started my firm I would want to grow it and see how far I could take it. I started my firm a bit later, I was about 51. I had worked at a firm for over 20 years , was president of the firm and at one point managed over 50 people.. When that ended I quickly started my own firm and had great clients that continued with me, I knew I wanted to continue doing high end homes and I knew I wanted a team to collaborate with. I love mentoring new designers and I love collaboration! I love my community and love that I can provide creative jobs for those who love design in our small mountain town
I must of used

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Jacobs + Interiors was born out of a life long passion of design, I love design in all its forms and feel so lucky to have found my calling as an interior designer. It melds 2 passions of mine – design and psychology. We are a firm of 10 and I love building a company where people can be creative and may an impact in our community, while doing something they love. I love collaboration and we pride ourselves on being a great team member. We work on high end mountain homes, but also do homes all over the country. We create homes that are beautiful and functional – our motto is ‘everyone deserves a beautiful home’ ! I went to school for Interior Design at Colorado State University, I moved to NYC and worked for a firm that did beautiful custom homes in the city and the Hamptons (Cullman and Kravis) , this was the start of my love for doing big complicated homes – the effort and time is so satisfying. From there I decided Colorado is where my heart is and worked for a firm in Denver for a bit but then quickly made my way to the mountains of Vail and worked for Slifer Designs for 20 years. I am so thankful of the time I spent at this firm, it taught me so much about running a business. I served as president of the company for 10 years. As the story goes, my next step would lead me to starting my own firm and it has been a wonderful experience. I love building the company and building beautiful projects
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A perfect summer weekend in the Vail Valley would include:
Tickets to a show at the Ford Amphitheater
A visit to either the Minturn Market or the Vail Farmers Market
Take the paddle boards out on Avon Lake
Take a hike in Beaver Creek
Shopping at the riverwalk in Edwards
Cocktails/food at Juniper in Edwards
Take a jeep ride

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My first job was with a firm in New York, Cullman and Kravis – Ellie Cullman and Hedi Kravis were my 1st mentors and introduced this small town Colorado girl to the world of high end residential design. They both gave me a chance to shine and took the time to really let me into this world. I really appreciate both of them.
I had the great oppurtunity to work alongside Beth Slifer with Slifer Designs for 21 years. She is a wonderful business woman and taught me so much about running a design firm.
So many colleagues and professionals in our Vail Valley that I respect and really look to for guidance
