Persevere or Pivot?

To persevere or to pivot is a question that do-ers have been asking themselves since the beginning of time. It’s never a straight road when you are doing something new, blazing a trail, breaking a ceiling, or pushing boundaries, so it’s only natural to wonder whether to give up midway. How do you know whether to keep going or to give up?

Funny you should ask, because about eight years ago, I did give up. Writing is such a delicate and personal work of art. I put everything I had into the books I self-published. I wasn’t about to give no less to future novels. With that came extreme goals I put in place. I wanted to show myself and the book world I had what I took to give the readers/fans more. First, quiet the mind, no matter how long it takes. Quiet the mind and start to feel the body. Put your hand on your heart, take slow deep breaths until you connect. Life certainly has its ups and downs, and it can be hard to know if a challenging situation is a dead end or just a detour. The decision to stop or to keep going in a certain direction can be really challenging, and there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. It often depends on various factors, including personal goals, circumstances, and values.
