The most valuable lesson my business has taught me is the importance of having a career in a field that you are passionate about. This is essential in having the drive and perseverance to continue, even when faced with challenges. I feel very fortunate to have discovered my passion for design and the outdoors at such a young age. I would have to say that the most important lesson I learned fueled my passion for my current business. That lesson is that self-nurturing (self-care) is essential. I had normalized exhaustion in pursuit of a successful career/life. As a result, I was mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. The exhaustion resulted from daily stress due to overcommitment, both in my personal life (parent, daughter, head of household) and my professional life (executive director, CPA pursuing a graduate degree).
