Ideas aren’t everything, execution matters greatly, but starting often requires an idea and so we asked folks to think back and tell us the story of how they came up with the idea for their businesses. We’ve highlighted some of our favorite stories below.

I started my therapy private practice because I was tired of working for others and wanted more control over my time, my schedule, and what I prioritized. Starting my own business gave me the freedom to decide how I spend my days—and the chance to build something aligned with my values. I love my work as a therapist but sometimes there are limits on how much you can do in that space. I’ve always loved beauty and self-care. My daily routines are a way to ground myself—a quiet ritual that makes me feel connected, nourished, and whole. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve found myself craving more simplicity—cleaner, more natural ingredients that feel good on my skin and align with how I want to live.
A few years ago, I took a trip to Paris and, like anyone should in Paris, I ate my heart out.
