Pay attention to them. My kids don’t care that I wrote a screenplay last month. They don’t care how many books I’ve sold. They don’t even care all that much how nice their clothes are or how often we get to go out to eat – not nearly as much as they care that I care about the drawing they just made, or the joke they just made up.
