‘Say yes to everything.’ I can agree with this for some reasons, but deep down I disagree with it. I understand the importance of taking advantage of opportunities that come your way, especially at the beginning of your career, but it can also become a slippery slope when it comes to then also having a work/life balance. I find that more often than not, successful people will tell others to stick to a script or structure that has worked in the past. I do not find this to be good advice, and while I understand why one would suggest this, I find that working on your own path with your own ideas and tendencies will allow you to become successful in a brand new way. It is far more difficult to do it this way, and most people will tell you it is not possible, but if you make your own ideas work in the way that other successful ideas have, then you will stand out because it is unique and new, with your originality. I’m in the health space, and when it comes to health and disease, I pretty much disagree with all the conventional advice. It’s hard to pick just one piece, as all of the pieces are just part of the big picture. And the big picture is that we are a sick society as a whole, and it is only getting worse. Starting with the USDA Food Guidelines to our failing Health Care System of disease management, it is not designed to help people prevent disease and keep them healthy. The whole system is aimed at removing personal responsibility for our health and putting it all into the hands of the “experts”, who are captured by the big Pharma and Food industries.
