We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to risk taking, it can be hard to measure the amount of risk to the amount of success it can bring. But the fact is that sometimes you just have to take the risk or you’ll never know what amazing things you could accomplish! I jumped into professional photography and its been great! I turned a small profit in my first year which is crazy! Plus the work is very rewarding and I like making people happy! Some risk pays off, you just have to decide whether you’re willing to see it through to the end.

My husband and I are also converting a bus into a tiny home and that was something we had thought and talked about for about a year and in the end we realized that we just had to jump without worrying about the risks. We knew that if we didn’t just do it, we never would. So we sold my paid off car and bought a 2003 Ford E35o! We are almost finished with it and after we’re done we will be living out of it and traveling for photography! Mainly in Colorado for now.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m actually from Kansas, I lived there from when I was born to 2022, 23 years. I have always wanted to leave haha. I love Colorado and all it has to offer so I’m so proud of myself and my husband for jumping in and making the decision to convert a bus and live here full time. We love the mountains and want to have a new adventure! It definitely has not been easy to get to this point, there have been many challenges. We have struggled a lot with mental health, gone into debt, over-drafted our account multiple times, our relationship has had many ups and downs but we always come out stronger! Overcoming these challenges was also not easy.

When it comes to mental health, therapy has been a life saver! I don’t know where I would be without having it. When you deal with ADHD along with depression and anxiety, it can be very difficult to live life in this world. Therapy helped to navigate it all.

I’ve made too many mistakes to count and I tend to get down on myself about them but I have learned that mistakes WILL happen. What matters is what you learn from those and how to change your actions going forward. Not beating myself up is what I’ve been trying to change.

I want the world to know that I’m not where I want to be yet, and that’s okay! I am working hard to get there. I love photography and making people happy! I want to continue doing that for as long as I can in beautiful places all over the world. I love capturing the beautiful special moments.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I love Colorado Springs! One of the first things I would do is take them on a hike at Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and then probably another hike at the Seven Bridges Trail. I love to hike and be outdoors in and near the mountains.

I’m relatively new to the area so I’m still finding my favorite places! I would probably take them over to Old Colorado City to visit La Baguette, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and probably some other places there too!

Also, downtown there is this pizza place called Bambinos Urban Pizzeria that is what dreams are made of!

I really like the vibe downtown and I think that’s a fun place to spend some time!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly my husband and I have worked together so much and he has been so supportive. I do most of the things for photography but he’s right there by my side boosting me up and supporting my decisions, even if they turn out bad! He get’s a lot of credit! Also my Mom as always supported me! She has always been there whenever I ask for anything. She would spend all of her time helping me if I asked and she was able, so I’m very grateful to her and love her very much!

But first, I am a religious person and I do put my trust in God and he has definitely helped me get where I am.
