We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystina Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystina, how do you think about risk?
I feel like life is all about taking risks, you never know how it will play out until y or try. For years I was nervous about venturing out on my own and starting a massage business. I’ve always made other risks throughout my life, but being on my own scared me because I didn’t know what the outcome would be. It was something I’ve always dreamed of I just had to muster up the courage and do it. I spent years bouncing around from job to job because the work environment was too toxic. I knew the only way to break the cycle was to either make a risk and start my own business or quit entirely. Quitting wasn’t an option so during the pandemic I got a little bit of words of encouragement and went off on my own. When I finally did I felt freedom and endless possibilities. That risk has restored my love and passion for massage therapy, I’m glad I did it. The risks didn’t stop there either, after I survived the pandemic, finished my lease at Solera Salon in Centennial I decided to move my business to Downtown Denver. That was such a huge risk, I spent 5 1/2 years building loyal clientele in the south. The goal wasn’t to abandon anyone, just to save money on rent and to be in a beautiful building still and I accomplished that! I’m very happy with the risks I’ve made, it’s taught me I’m capable of anything I just gotta make the leap. Had I not I would still be miserable working for someone else.

Alright, we’d love to hear what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a massage therapist for 13 years, ever since middle school I’ve always had a passion for Making people feel good. I think the thing that sets me apart from most massage therapist’s is that I listen to the clients every needs ensuring they are getting exactly why they paid for. Another thing that sets me apart is I love to do traditional trigger point therapy, I say traditional because I do not use any tools just my hands, arms and elbow. I’m proud of how far I’ve gotten in my industry, that I never gave up regardless of what life threw at me. I’m excited for my business moving downtown, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be here. I love that it’s a historical building and I’m excited for what the future holds. It’s wasn’t easy getting to where I am today, as I’ve mentioned before I’ve worked in toxic environments and had to deal with everything from my cash tips being stolen, unpaid wages, clients being lied to about not being able to book an appointment with me. A lot of it was taking a toll on me, going from job to job because of the toxicity. It wasn’t until I worked in Greenwood Village that I finally caught somewhat of a break, still toxic just more manageable. However the more I ran the harder it made it to find a work place that was ideal for me, I had to create it. How I over came it was sticking it out the best I could and giving my information out to clients incase I randomly quit that job. Once I did quit and went off on my own I stayed in the area so the ones who wanted to follow me could and even though I have moved recently, I will still be there for my southern clients. The lessons I have learned is that if it’s something I’m passionate about, do it! Don’t hold back. Take risks. I want the world to know I’m passionate about massage therapy and anyone who comes in to see me well-being. I’ve suffered my own serious injuries everything from roll over car accidents to being t-boned, I know pain and how crippling it can be. It is my goal to provide quality care through the power of touch and to ensure the client is comfortable the entire time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely show my bestie my favorite food places while discovering new places to try and I love the mountains, who doesn’t? Perfect place to go canoeing, paddle boarding etc. Endless things to do and beauty to see in the mountains, I would show them my favorite trails and lakes to walk, kick back and relax at.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge shout out to my loyal clients, anyone who has supported me in anyway and to anyone who has allowed me to heal their body through the power of touch. Thank You!
