We had the good fortune of connecting with Nahomy Noelia Freile Macias and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nahomy Noelia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My two main goals behind starting my own business were to allow me to grow my artistic skills in different areas, as well as to be more in control of my financial freedom.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a versatile artist, I enjoy many different styles of tattoos, but my favorite styles are definitely watercolor, fine line work, dotwork, and surrealism. I think this is not just about the artist, it is about the art itself; and every work of art deserves the necessary time and total dedication, whether on a canvas or on someone’s body, you can see how this is reflected in my work, a care in each stroke and with a direct message.

The hardest thing for me was leaving my loved ones miles away, a lot happened in my absence and the culture shock caused me a lot of stress at the time, but I had no other options.

As you can see, the security and poverty levels in most Latin American countries are terribly alarming, especially for low-income families, like my family, so coming to the US was a great opportunity for me.

I firmly believe that we must have a dogged determination to pursue what nurtures our spirit and at the same time cultivate resilience in order to make it in this world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely The liberty point in pueblo, it’s such a sublime view, you need to go to experience it. For food, I highly recommend La Forchetta da Massi, or Mr. Tandoori for the Indian food lovers out there.
And for dessert Paleteria y neveria Durango is your best bet for a delicious gelato that you could enjoy by the lake.
And for our tattoo lovers, as a nice souvenir I highly recommend you to visit Spellbound electric tattoo shop.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to recognize the efforts of my family, especially my mother; she always encouraged arts and culture in me, from a very young age. My life partner Alfredo, with whom I have learned so much.
And for all the moments that challenge my perspective, thank you so much to all of my mentors.
