Meet Logan Taylor | Digital Illustrator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Logan Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Logan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up, many of my friends and family members would find interest in my art and would often share how they wanted my art for their own home. This inspired me to create an art that almost everyone can enjoy, whether or not you have a wall to decorate. Most everyone has a open surface on their computer, water bottle, car window, and almost every other common good. That was what inspired me to create stickers. I enjoyed the simplicity of the design, and the ability to convey other peoples thoughts or passions through my work.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a professional artist, my main source of income comes from my sticker sales. I take pride in my stickers because they are all very unique. I am extremely passionate about my stickers that convey the theme of the outdoors or adventure. I spend most of my free time exploring beautiful Colorado, and I get so excited when people express similar interest in these activities when they purchase my stickers. I feel extremely honored when people from around the world order my stickers, but the most excited I get is when I see my own sticker in public. I feel overjoyed when I see someone else expressing themselves through my art work. It makes all of the hard work worth it. When I was first starting my business, I started on an extremely well known website and received my first purchase within the first week. This site has been a blessing to me because it was very easy to sell my designs, however I get very little of the profit. This challenge has been hard to overcome. I have now resorted to selling on other sites in which I must print and ship my stickers on my own, something that I did not have to do previously. I would say that I am still working through this challenge, but I am hopeful for the changes to come.
I have learned so many lessons along the way. I have found that inspiration can be a hard thing to find. When I turned my art into a business, I started creating art for the consumer and not for myself. Because of this, I have gone through some highs and lows when creating, as most any artist does. Turning your passion into a business requires true grit and determination because, at some points, it can seem like the thing you once proudly created has become one of your heaviest burdens. My biggest take away has been to find joy in the small successes. Once you focus on these, inspiration will come with ease.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am an outdoorsy person, and I think Colorado has some of the best places for people to experience adventure and wonder. I personally love the area around Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater becuase it is so close to Denver. This would be one of the first places I took my guest. I would show them the amphitheater and take them on a brief hike on the Trading Post Trail or to Dinosaur Ridge as a way to show them the natural beauties of Denver. After this, I would also love to take them to downtown Denver to experience some of the best restaurants. I am fond of My Neighbor Felix and the Snooze in Union Station, so I would probably take them there for dinner or breakfast the following day. As a day trip, I would take my guest up to Estes Park and show them around. We could walk around downtown, hopefully see some elk, and maybe go on another short hike. If they are up for it, my favorite Estes hike is about 10 miles and goes from Bear Lake to Fern Lake. It is one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever done. The Stanley Hotel is a great place to stop for a picnic and enjoy the view. On the way back to Denver, I would take them to one of the many amazing local Mexican food restaurants. I personally like Moose Hill Cantina, Taqueria la Familia, and Tacos El Gordo. It is easy to find great things to do around Denver, and I get excited when I get to share it with others.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot of my success to my family. They encouraged me to take a leap of faith and to trust in my business. They would tell me that “an investment in yourself is never a bad investment”. My parents always encouraged my creative thinking and passion for art which I learned from my mom. She helped me to learn the basics of artwork at a very young age. She still has been the only art teacher I have ever had, and I couldn’t be more thankful. My dad has taught me the business side of the art world and has always encouraged me to branch out to new markets and get out my comfort zone. I want to thank my family and friends for helping me to get to this point in my career at a young age. They mean everything to me and I couldn’t be here without them.
